Three channels, one cabinet

The SB510’s 3.1 configuration separates left, right and centre information instead of collapsing everything into a stereo image. Three racetrack drivers, each 45 x 80 mm, cover the front channels, and the centre driver’s job is dialogue: speech sits in its own channel rather than competing with music and effects, which is why voices stay intelligible at modest volumes and during busy action scenes. Dolby Audio processing is built in, so soundtracks encoded with Dolby information are decoded and presented as the mix intends across the three channels and the subwoofer section.

A subwoofer built into the bar

The low-frequency section is a 70 x 88 mm subwoofer transducer built into the same cabinet, driven by its own 50W of the system’s 200W total output, with the remaining 150W across the soundbar channels. Building the subwoofer in removes the usual compromises of small soundbar packages: there is no wireless subwoofer to pair, no second power socket to find and no large box to place in a corner. The rated frequency response runs from 55 Hz to 20 kHz at minus 10 dB, giving film effects, music bass lines and broadcast audio a weight that television speakers cannot approach.

Simple connections for TV and music

Television connection is deliberately simple. HDMI ARC carries the TV’s audio to the bar over one cable and lets the TV remote control the soundbar’s volume, and an optical digital input covers televisions without ARC. Bluetooth 5.3 with A2DP and AVRCP profiles streams music wirelessly from a phone, tablet or computer when the TV is off. A USB Type-A port is also fitted; on some regional versions it supports MP3 playback, while on others it is reserved for service use. Mains power is 100 to 240V AC at 50/60 Hz, and standby consumption is under 0.5W.

Placement, controls and everyday use

The bar measures 950 x 67 x 105 mm and weighs 3.5 kg, low enough to sit in front of most televisions without blocking the screen or its remote sensor, and the included wall-mount bracket kit with screws covers wall installation under a mounted TV. The supplied remote control handles power, volume, input selection and sound settings, and an HDMI cable is included in the box alongside the power cables and quick start guide. Operating range is rated from 0 to 45 degrees Celsius, covering normal living-room conditions year round.
