Sonos Era 300 Smart Speaker – White

Sonos Era 300 Smart Speaker White – Spatial Audio From a Single Speaker

The Sonos Era 300 in white is a smart speaker designed around spatial audio. Six drivers fire forwards, sideways and upwards: four tweeters, including an upward-firing tweeter loaded into a directional horn, and two woofers angled left and right. Playing Dolby Atmos music, that array reflects height sound off your ceiling and wraps instruments around the listening position in a way a conventional single-direction speaker cannot approach.

It is also a full Sonos system member. It streams over Wi-Fi 6 from the major services, accepts Bluetooth and a line-in through its USB-C port with an adapter, supports AirPlay 2, and can pair in stereo or serve as rear surrounds with a Sonos Arc or Beam. Trueplay tuning measures your room and adjusts the speaker to it.

What spatial audio actually adds

Stereo places sound on a line between two points. A spatial mix places elements in a space: a vocal centred and forward, harmonies wide, a piano slightly high and behind. The Era 300’s side-firing tweeters create genuine stereo separation from one cabinet, while the horn-loaded height driver adds the vertical dimension Atmos mixes are made with. On regular stereo recordings the wide dispersion still pays off, giving a larger, more open presentation that fills a room more evenly than a forward-only speaker of similar size.

Trueplay and everyday use

Placement freedom usually costs sound quality, because corners and shelves change a speaker’s balance. Trueplay uses the microphone array to measure how your room responds and corrects the EQ, so an Era 300 on a sideboard or in a corner stays close to its intended tuning. Adjustable bass and treble in the Sonos app add personal preference on top. Day to day, control is by touch on the speaker, by voice, or from the app alongside any other Sonos rooms you own. Grouped with other Sonos speakers, it can play the same music in sync across several rooms, or something entirely different in each, all from the same app and the same home network.

As surrounds, it changes category

Two Era 300s behind a sofa, paired with a Sonos soundbar, act as discrete rear and height channels, which is where their upward and side drivers make the strongest cinematic case.

For listeners moving to immersive streaming, in a clean white finish that suits bright rooms, the Era 300 is the most forward-looking single speaker Sonos makes.
