Sonos Roam 2 Portable Speaker – Wave Blue

Sonos Roam 2 Portable Speaker

Finished in Wave Blue, this Sonos Roam 2 is the portable member of the Sonos family: small enough to pick up with one hand, sealed against dust and water, and able to play from WiFi at home or Bluetooth when you head out. It carries both Sonos Voice Control and Amazon Alexa, tunes itself automatically to wherever it is placed, and runs for up to 10 hours before it needs a USB-C charge. At roughly 0.43kg it adds very little weight to a day bag, a beach tote or hand luggage, yet at home it groups with other Sonos speakers like a full system member.

From bookshelf to beach without changing speaker

The usual compromise is choosing between a home speaker that sounds connected and a travel speaker that only does Bluetooth. The Roam 2 removes that choice. Leave it on WiFi in the bedroom and it is part of your Sonos system, ready for grouped playback and AirPlay 2 from Apple devices. Pick it up and leave the house, and Bluetooth 5.2 connects straight to your phone for music, podcasts and video sound wherever you stop. Nothing needs re-setting when you return; the speaker rejoins the home network and resumes its place in the system.

Sound that adjusts to where it lands

Portable speakers rarely stay in one carefully chosen spot. They end up on stone, wood, grass, tiles and sand, sometimes upright and sometimes surrounded by walls. Automatic Trueplay exists for exactly that pattern of use, listening to the environment and reshaping the output so music stays balanced instead of reflecting harshly or losing clarity. Voice requests through Sonos Voice Control or Amazon Alexa handle music and everyday tasks on WiFi, while the buttons on the body cover the moments when speaking to a speaker is impractical, such as a noisy garden or a shared workspace.

Sealed, light and ready for a full day

An IP67 rating means the cabinet is built to keep dust out and to handle immersion in water, so splashes at the pool, rain at a campsite and steam in a bathroom are ordinary conditions rather than hazards. The weight, approximately 0.43kg, is closer to a water bottle than to a conventional speaker, and the battery is rated for up to 10 hours of playback, enough for a working day of background music or an evening outdoors. When power runs low, USB-C charging applies, with USB-C PD support for compatible chargers, so one cable in your bag can serve phone, laptop and speaker.

Pair two for real stereo

If one Roam 2 becomes the speaker you use most, adding a second one in the same setup unlocks stereo pairing. Two units split the left and right channels, giving music a sense of width and placement that a single compact speaker cannot create, and making dialogue and video soundtracks easier to follow. The pair still travels as two small speakers when a trip calls for it, then returns to stereo duty at home. That flexibility, rather than a single fixed role, is the point of the design.

The Wave Blue finish gives this Roam 2 a brighter, coastal character while keeping everything that defines the model: dual WiFi and Bluetooth streaming, automatic tuning, built-in voice control and a waterproof portable body that moves with you.
