Tannoy SAT SUB 4-Pack Satellite and Subwoofer Speaker Package (Black)

Tannoy SAT SUB 4-Pack Satellite and Subwoofer Speaker Package (Black)

The Tannoy SAT SUB 4-Pack is a complete packaged loudspeaker system for commercial spaces – four discreet SAT 3 surface-mount satellite speakers plus the slimline SAT SUB subwoofer in one box. It is designed for background and foreground music in bars, restaurants, retail stores, hotels and places of worship, where the speakers need to be heard clearly but barely seen. The satellites connect straight into the subwoofer, which carries an integrated crossover and terminal plate for two or four satellites, so the whole system runs from a single amplifier channel with no external processing required.

Coverage is the point of the design. Each satellite uses a lightweight 2.5-inch full-range paper driver with wide constant-directivity dispersion – 265 degrees horizontal and vertical at 1kHz – so a small number of speakers covers a room evenly, without hot spots under the speakers and dead zones between them. The subwoofer’s 6.5-inch driver reaches down to 32Hz, filling in the low end that small satellites cannot produce on their own.

Key Features

• Complete package: four SAT 3 satellites and one SAT SUB subwoofer
• Satellites: 2.5-inch full-range drivers, 200Hz – 20kHz bandwidth, 15W average / 25W programme power handling
• Subwoofer: 6.5-inch driver, 32Hz – 260Hz bandwidth, 80W average / 120W programme, up to 116dB maximum SPL
• Built-in 70V/100V transformer with low-impedance 8-ohm bypass for commercial distributed lines
• Integrated 200Hz crossover and satellite terminals inside the subwoofer, plus loop-through output for a second subwoofer
• Wide 265-degree dispersion from each satellite for even room coverage
• Pan/tilt wall and ceiling brackets included for the satellites, wall bracket for the subwoofer
• Semi-matt black finish with steel grilles for discreet installation

How the System Connects

Wiring is deliberately simple. The amplifier’s speaker-level output feeds the SAT SUB first. Inside the subwoofer, a passive crossover fixed at 200Hz sends everything above that point to the satellite outputs on the terminal plate and keeps the low frequencies for the 6.5-inch driver. Up to four satellites connect to the one subwoofer, and a loop-through terminal lets you chain a second subwoofer for larger areas. All connections use Phoenix Contact terminal blocks, the standard for installed audio, and the subwoofer’s built-in transformer offers taps at 20, 40 and 80W on a 100V line (10, 20, 40 and 80W on 70V) or a straight 8-ohm low-impedance connection for conventional amplifiers. The recommended amplifier pairing is 120W at 8 ohms for the subwoofer and 25W at 16 ohms per satellite.

Built for Installed Spaces

The SAT 3 satellites weigh just 1.16kg each including the bracket and measure 100 x 100 x 93mm, so they sit unobtrusively on walls or ceilings in their ABS enclosures with steel grilles. The SAT SUB is a slimline MDF cabinet – 175 x 413 x 300mm – that mounts flat to a wall rather than taking up floor space, and it ships with its wall bracket, rubber feet and a paper positioning template. Typical applications are background music and paging in hospitality and retail, foreground music in bars and cafes, and distributed sound in offices and houses of worship. The full technical specification for both parts of the system is listed in the Additional Information table on this page.
