The Yamaha DHR10 is a 2-way bi-amplified powered loudspeaker for professional sound reinforcement, built in a plywood cabinet with the construction approach of Yamaha’s high-end DZR series. A 10-inch woofer and 1.4-inch compression driver are powered by 700 watts of Class D amplification and controlled by Yamaha’s FIR-X tuning, which uses linear phase FIR filters to align frequency and phase response through the crossover. It is aimed at fixed installations and utility work where a compact box must still deliver full, controlled output: a maximum of 128dB SPL at one metre.

Power and Processing

The amplifier delivers 700 watts dynamic and 325 watts continuous, split 260 watts to the woofer and 65 watts to the compression driver in continuous terms. Signals are converted at 24-bit/48kHz and processed with FIR-X tuning, which corrects phase around the 1.9kHz crossover so the two drivers sum cleanly on and off axis. D-CONTOUR offers FOH/MAIN and MONITOR modes that apply multi-band dynamic processing to keep the sound consistent as levels rise, and a high-pass filter switchable between off, 100Hz and 120Hz prepares the box for use with a subwoofer such as Yamaha’s DXS series.

Connections and Control

Input 1 is a combination XLR and TRS socket. Input 2 adds a second combination socket plus unbalanced RCA pin inputs, so a mixer channel and a phone or media player can be connected at the same time. An XLR output passes either Input 1 through in parallel or a mix of both inputs, which makes daisy-chaining to a second speaker or a recording feed straightforward. Each input has its own level control on the rear panel.

Installation and Rigging

The horn rotates, so the 90 x 60 degree coverage pattern stays correct whether the cabinet is mounted upright or on its side. A 35mm pole socket in the base covers stand mounting, M10 rigging points on the top and rear accept eye bolts for flown or wall installations, and the optional UB-DXRDHR10 U-bracket allows fixed horizontal or vertical wall and ceiling mounting. The plywood enclosure is finished in a scratch-resistant black polyurea coating, and a four-speed cooling fan keeps the amplifier in its operating range.

Where It Works

At 305 x 494 x 300mm and 15.0kg, the DHR10 suits small to medium venues, houses of worship, classrooms, retail spaces and corporate rooms as a main speaker, and works equally well as a delay fill or a powerful stage monitor. Its frequency range of 52Hz to 20kHz means many speech and music applications need no subwoofer at all.

Power requirements cover 100 to 240 volt regions at 50/60Hz, and idle consumption is just 18 watts, so the DHR10 can stay installed and ready in a fixed system without a meaningful running cost. A top handle keeps one-person carrying manageable when the setup changes.
