The Honeywell Suono P3000 is a 2.0 channel soundbar that gives a television the sound its picture already has. Two drivers of 58 x 90 mm produce 80 W of stereo output, Bluetooth 5.3 with EDR handles wireless music from a phone, and three preset EQ modes — Music, Movie and News — reshape the balance for what is actually on screen. It is part of the Honeywell Suono series of audio products made under licence, in the same family as the smaller Suono P1000, but it is a distinct and more powerful model with its own specification; nothing from the P1000’s driver size or output figures carries over to this bar.

Television speakers are small, usually fire downwards or towards the wall, and are voiced to survive inside a cabinet a few centimetres deep. A bar with two full-range drivers of this size, firing forwards from under the screen, fixes the two things viewers notice most: dialogue that can be followed without raising the volume, and enough body in music and effects that action scenes stop sounding thin.

Three EQ modes that earn their place

Preset EQ is only useful when the presets match real content, and these three do. Movie mode is the general television setting, weighted for effects and score. News mode concentrates on the speech band, which is where newsreaders, panel discussions, sports commentary and dialogue-heavy serials live; it is often the better choice for everyday viewing, not just news. Music mode suits the bar’s second job, playing music over Bluetooth, where a flatter, fuller balance works better than a cinema voicing. Switching between them from the remote is quicker and more repeatable than adjusting bass and treble by ear each time the content changes.

Connections

HDMI ARC is the right input for the television itself: one cable carries the TV’s sound to the bar, and the television remote controls the bar’s volume. USB accepts audio from a memory device, AUX covers sources with a 3.5 mm output such as older televisions, computers and projectors, and Bluetooth 5.3 turns the bar into the room’s speaker for a phone, tablet or laptop within its roughly 10 m range. The bar is compatible with the usual household sources — televisions, laptops, tablets, smartphones, MP3 players and game consoles — through one of those routes.

Placement and setup

The bar can sit on the television stand or mount on the wall beneath a wall-hung set; centring it under the screen keeps the stereo image tied to the picture. Connect ARC first, set the television’s audio output to the ARC or external device, and then work through the EQ modes with the kind of content you watch most. For music, pair over Bluetooth once and the bar reconnects as a normal Bluetooth speaker afterwards.
