The Bose TV Speaker is a compact soundbar built for one job: making television sound dramatically clearer than a TV’s own speakers, with a setup that takes minutes. Inside the 59 cm-wide bar, two angled full-range drivers deliver wider, more spacious stereo sound, while a dedicated centre tweeter is tuned specifically for speech. Dialogue Mode analyses what is being watched and elevates the vocals further, so words stay intelligible even in busy scenes; it is switched on from the included remote. A Bass button on the same remote adds low-end weight when a film or a sports broadcast calls for it.

Connection is a single cable: HDMI ARC or the included optical cable. With HDMI ARC, the TV remote controls volume and the bar powers on and off with the TV through HDMI-CEC. Bluetooth 4.2 covers music and podcasts from a phone, and a 3.5 mm AUX input takes other sources. If deeper bass is wanted later, the TV Speaker accepts a Bose Bass Module 500 or 700, connected with a 3.5 mm cable to its bass output. The bar is also Roku TV Ready certified, for smooth setup and control with Roku TVs.

What it deliberately leaves out

The TV Speaker is a 2.0-channel clarity upgrade, not a home cinema hub: there is no Wi-Fi streaming, no Dolby Atmos or virtual surround processing, and no app-based control. That simplicity is the appeal. There are no accounts to create and no network setup to maintain; the bar connects, pairs with the TV remote, and works, which is exactly what most TV dialogue problems actually need. Listeners who later want more immersion can add a Bass Module rather than replacing the bar.

Placement and daily use

At just 5.6 cm tall, the bar sits in front of almost any TV without blocking the screen or its remote sensor, and it can be wall-mounted with the Bose soundbar wall bracket, available separately. LED indicators on the front show input and feature status at a glance. The included remote covers power, volume, Bluetooth, Dialogue Mode and bass level, and the bar weighs 1.95 kg, so repositioning it needs no help.

Music playback

When the television is off, the bar doubles as a small music speaker: Bluetooth pairing from the remote connects a phone or tablet for music and podcasts, and the AUX input takes wired sources such as a turntable preamp or an older player. The bass boost that helps film effects also adds weight to music, and Dialogue Mode can be left off for normal listening. It is a simple arrangement, but it covers the everyday case of one speaker serving both the TV and casual music.
