Driver technology

Dynamic Balance is Polk’s approach to analysing the whole moving system — cone, surround, voice coil and motor — rather than a single part, with the aim of removing resonances that colour the sound. The polypropylene cone keeps mass low, which helps both efficiency and midrange detail, while the silk dome tweeter gives a smoother high-frequency character than a hard dome at this level. Because the tweeter swivels, the installer can direct the treble toward the seating after the speaker is fixed, which is particularly useful when the ideal wall position is not directly facing the listener.
