The Sonicview 16 brings the same mixing platform as its larger sibling into a smaller, rack-mountable frame. It offers 16 Class 1 HDIA microphone preamps, two 7-inch touch panels and 16 plus 1 motorised faders, while the engine underneath is identical in concept: 44 input channels, a 96 kHz, 54-bit floating-point FPGA mix bus, 32-bit / 96 kHz conversion and built-in Dante networking.

That makes the Sonicview 16 a serious option for venues, rental companies, worship systems and studios that want the Sonicview workflow and sound without the footprint of the 24-fader surface. With the optional rack kit it can live in a rack for installed work, or travel as a compact front-of-house desk.

Same engine, smaller surface

The important point about the Sonicview 16 is what it does not lose. The channel count, bus structure, effects count and networking are shared with the 24, so mixes translate between the two surfaces and engineers learn one workflow. Analogue-to-analogue latency of 0.51 ms keeps monitoring tight, and the surface and engine run on independent systems so audio continues if the control surface is restarted. Snapshot, effect, EQ, gate and compressor libraries store the building blocks of a show for fast recall.

Connectivity for live and installed systems

Sixteen XLR line outputs with flexible routing feed PA zones, monitors and record sends, while 8 TRS line inputs, two RCA stereo pairs and a talkback input handle playback and utility sources. Built-in Dante carries 64 channels each way for stage boxes such as the optional SB-16D, broadcast networks and multitrack feeds. Word clock in and out/thru, gigabit Ethernet and 8-in / 8-out GPIO support integration with installed control and cue systems.

Recording and remote control

The USB interface gives 32 inputs and 32 outputs at 32-bit / 96 kHz for multitrack recording and playback from a computer, and two-channel internal recording and playback to SD card or USB flash drive handles stereo capture without a laptop. An optional SDXC multitrack recording card can be fitted in an expansion slot when direct multitrack capture on the desk is required. Sonicview Control software for macOS, Windows and iPadOS adds remote mixing and offline show preparation.

Choosing between Sonicview 16 and 24

Pick the 16 when sixteen local preamps cover the typical input list, Dante will carry any extra stage inputs, and space, weight or rack mounting matter. Pick the 24 when you regularly need 24 local preamps, a third screen and a fader per source. For everyone else, the 16 delivers the full Sonicview engine in the more portable format.
