Tascam TM-10LB Lavalier Microphone, Black

Tascam TM-10LB Lavalier Microphone, Black

The Tascam TM-10LB is a miniature lavalier microphone for recorders and wireless transmitters, finished in black, the meaning of the B in the model name, for discreet use on clothing. Its capsule measures just 6.5 mm across and 22 mm long, so it clips onto a lapel, collar or tie and stays out of the shot while still capturing clear, natural voice. Tascam designed it as the companion microphone for the DR-10 series of wearable recorders, and it is equally at home with compatible wireless bodypack transmitters that accept a screw-lock 3.5 mm input.

The TM-10LB uses a back electret condenser capsule with an omnidirectional pickup pattern, so it hears the voice evenly even if the wearer turns their head or shifts position. It tolerates sound pressure levels up to 115 dB, so normal speech and raised voices are handled without strain, and it runs on plug-in power supplied by the recorder or transmitter, between 1.5 and 10 volts, so there is no battery to manage in the microphone itself.

Key Features

• Miniature lavalier capsule: 6.5 mm diameter, 22 mm long
• Back electret condenser element with omnidirectional pickup
• Frequency response of 50 Hz to 18 kHz, voiced for speech
• Handles up to 115 dB SPL without distortion
• Sensitivity of -42 dB with 1.8 k ohm output impedance
• 3.5 mm stereo mini plug with screw lock, so the cable cannot pull out mid-take
• 1.6 m cable: enough length to route under clothing to a belt-worn recorder
• Clip, windscreen and soft carry case included

Why a Lavalier Beats a Camera Microphone

Speech clarity depends mostly on distance. A microphone on the camera hears the room as much as the speaker: reflections, air conditioning and audience noise all compete with the voice. A lavalier sits about 20 cm from the mouth, so the voice dominates and room echo fades into the background. The omnidirectional pattern keeps levels consistent as the subject moves, which is why lavaliers are the default choice for interviews, wedding vows, lectures, theatre and presentations: the microphone disappears, the voice stays, and the wearer’s hands remain free.

Built for the DR-10 Workflow

The screw-lock connector mates securely with Tascam’s DR-10L and DR-10X recorders, whose locking inputs are designed for exactly this plug, so a tug on the cable cannot end a recording. The included clip grips fabric firmly, and the windscreen tames light wind and plosive pops outdoors and on stage. At 24 grams including its cable, the TM-10LB adds nothing noticeable to a pocket or belt, and the soft case keeps capsule, clip and windscreen together between shoots.

Who the TM-10LB Suits

Choose it for wedding and event filming, interview and documentary work, teaching and public speaking, streaming and online classes, or as a replacement or spare microphone for a DR-10 series recorder or a compatible wireless system.
