Dune HD Cubetek Homatics CBX2MAX UHD Media Player

Dune HD Cubetek Homatics CBX2MAX UHD Media Player

The Cubetek CBX2MAX Android TV Media Player is a compact 4K streaming and local-media player for a living-room television or a home theatre. It combines certified Android TV streaming with a Dune HD media centre, so one box covers Netflix, Prime Video and YouTube in 4K, and a hard drive or NAS library of films and concerts with proper menus, frame rates and lossless audio. The Cubetek CBX2MAX Android TV Media Player is supplied in the Homatics and Cubetek retail box shown on this listing, with a Bluetooth voice remote.

Why Choose Cubetek CBX2MAX Android TV Media Player?

Choose the Cubetek CBX2MAX Android TV Media Player if you want both worlds in one device, rather than a streaming stick for apps and a separate player for local files. Google and Netflix certification means streaming apps can deliver their full 4K HDR streams instead of falling back to lower resolutions, with Widevine L1 support and Chromecast built in. The Dune HD side presents local files as a browsable catalogue with artwork and descriptions, plays MKV, M2TS, ISO and folder structures, supports full menus on movie images, and switches framerate and resolution automatically so 24p film, 50Hz and 60Hz material each play without judder.

Key Features

• 4K HDR streaming: HDMI 2.1 output up to 4K at 60 Hz, with Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG, plus AV1 and VP9 Profile 2 codecs for YouTube and modern streaming services.
• Certified Android TV: Android TV 14 on the retail box, with Google Assistant voice search, Chromecast built in, and a Bluetooth voice remote with microphone and dedicated Netflix, YouTube and Prime Video buttons.
• Dune HD media centre: Poster-wall catalogue, full menu support for ISO and disc structures, Dolby Vision profile 7 MEL and FEL support, and automatic framerate and resolution switching for local files.
• High-bitrate local playback: Gigabit Ethernet for wired playback, Wi-Fi 6 for wireless use, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 for external drives, and optical S/PDIF output for older amplifiers without HDMI audio return.
• Immersive audio: Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, DTS:X and DTS-HD MA support, with multichannel FLAC playback for music libraries.
• Compact, quiet box: A small square unit that sits beside a television or receiver, with a Bluetooth remote that does not need line of sight.

Best Suited For

The Cubetek CBX2MAX Android TV Media Player suits a living room or home theatre built around a good television and a sound system that can use Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, and a household that both streams and keeps a local film library. In short, the Cubetek CBX2MAX Android TV Media Player is for viewers who want certified streaming and serious local playback from one box. If you only stream and never play local files, a simpler stick covers that need. If local playback matters, this box earns its place where both worlds meet.

Setup and Connection Guide

To set up the Cubetek CBX2MAX Android TV Media Player, connect the box to the television with the supplied HDMI cable, connect power, and follow the on-screen Android TV setup to connect Wi-Fi or Ethernet and sign in with a Google account. For high-bitrate local playback, use Gigabit Ethernet where a cable run is practical, and Wi-Fi 6 where it is not. Connect external storage to a USB port, or point the Dune HD media centre at a network share, and let it build the catalogue. Pair the Bluetooth voice remote as prompted, and use the optical output only if the amplifier or soundbar lacks HDMI audio return. Check that the television input supports HDCP 2.2 for protected 4K content.

Does the Cubetek CBX2MAX Android TV Media Player play Netflix in 4K?

Yes, subject to the streaming plan and the television. The platform is Google and Netflix certified, with Widevine L1, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support, so certified apps can deliver their full 4K HDR streams where the plan and display allow.

Can it play ISO files and disc folders with menus?

Yes, through the Dune HD media centre. It supports ISO and folder structures, including full menu playback, Dolby Vision profiles, and automatic framerate switching, which is the main reason to choose this box over a basic streaming stick for a local library.

What is in the box?

The retail box shows the Homatics and Cubetek branded unit and remote. The standard Box R platform package includes the media player, a Bluetooth voice remote, an HDMI cable and a power adapter. If any item differs on opening, check it against the retail box before first use.

Technical Specifications

When the Cubetek CBX2MAX Android TV Media Player is connected and signed in, streaming apps and the Dune HD catalogue are available from the same home screen, with no need to switch devices between streaming and local playback.
