Ravtron 3.0 Port Hub Adapter

Ravtron 3.0 Port Hub Adapter

The Ravtron 3.0 Port Hub Adapter expands a single USB-C port on a laptop, tablet or PC into four USB 3.0 ports, so peripherals that modern slim machines no longer have room for can all stay connected at once. Flash drives, keyboards, mice, printers and portable hard drives can share the hub instead of competing for one socket, and the USB 3.0 interface carries data at up to 5 Gbps, ten times the ceiling of the older USB 2.0 standard. It is a straightforward expansion adapter for desks and laptop bags: plug it into the host machine, connect your devices, and get to work.

Key features

• Expands one USB-C port into four USB 3.0 ports
• Data transfer rates up to 5 Gbps under the USB 3.0 standard
• Connects flash drives, keyboards, mice, printers and external drives simultaneously
• Plug and play operation with no drivers to install
• Backward compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 devices
• LED power indicator shows the hub is live at a glance
• Compact black housing sized for desk use and travel

Four ports from a single USB-C connection

Many current laptops ship with one or two USB-C ports and nothing else, which leaves owners of USB-A peripherals choosing which device to unplug next. This hub answers that problem directly: the host side connects to the computer’s USB-C port, and the four downstream USB-A sockets accept the standard plugs used by the vast majority of existing accessories. A wireless mouse receiver, a keyboard, a pen drive and a portable hard drive can all remain attached through a single connection to the machine, and can be disconnected together simply by removing the hub.

USB 3.0 speed for everyday transfers

USB 3.0 raises the transfer ceiling to 5 Gbps, and the difference is most obvious with large files. Copying a folder of photos, a video project or a system backup to a portable drive takes a fraction of the time it would over USB 2.0, provided the drive itself is fast enough to use the bandwidth. Everyday low-bandwidth devices such as keyboards and mice work through the same hub without any configuration, because the USB 3.0 ports accept older USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 plugs and negotiate the appropriate speed for each device automatically.

Compatibility and plug-and-play use

The hub works with Windows, macOS and Linux systems and needs no driver installation or separate setup software; the operating system recognises it as a standard USB hub as soon as it is connected. That makes it equally suitable for a permanent desktop arrangement, where it can bring hard-to-reach rear-panel ports forward onto the desk, and for mobile use, where it restores connectivity to an ultraportable laptop in a meeting room or on the road. Devices can be added and removed while the computer is running, as USB hot-swapping intends.

A practical note on power

Like other compact bus-powered hubs, this adapter draws its operating power from the host computer’s USB-C port and shares it among the connected devices. Keyboards, mice, receivers and flash drives draw very little and run comfortably together. Portable hard drives draw more, and running several power-hungry drives at once can exceed what a single host port supplies; for that kind of load, connect the most demanding drive directly to the computer or use drives with their own power supply. Used within those sensible limits, the Ravtron hub is a dependable way to keep a modern laptop connected to the peripherals you already own.

In short, the Ravtron 3.0 Port Hub Adapter is a compact, driver-free way to turn one USB-C port into four full-size USB 3.0 connections, with 5 Gbps transfer capability, an LED power indicator and compatibility across the main desktop operating systems.
