The UltraProlink MagVault, model UM1271, is a card reader that solves a storage problem rather than a connectivity one. It snaps magnetically to the back of a MagSafe-compatible phone, connects over USB-C, and gives that phone two working card slots, one SD and one microSD, each supporting cards up to 2TB. Phone full in the middle of a shoot is no longer a stop condition: offload to a card, swap in another, and keep recording. For laptops and tablets it is simply a fast, compact dual-slot reader; for phones it is expandable storage that behaves like part of the handset.

Speed for real creator files

Transfer speed decides whether offloading is a habit or a chore. At up to 160MB/s reading and 120MB/s writing, subject to the card fitted, the MagVault moves ProRes clips, 4K and 8K video, RAW photo bursts and project folders at rates that keep up with a shooting day rather than backing it up. Both slots work at the same time, so card-to-card copies, backups and sorting between an SD from a camera and a microSD from a drone or action camera happen without a computer in between.

Charge while you transfer

The reader carries a dedicated USB-C PD 3.0 input that passes through up to 100W of charging power. Connect a charger or power bank there and the phone, tablet or laptop keeps charging while files move, so a long offload at the end of a travel day does not have to end with a flat battery. One port on the host device does both jobs, which is the entire design brief of the product.

Local storage, under your control

Files moved through the MagVault go to your cards and nowhere else: no cloud upload, no subscription, no waiting on hotel Wi-Fi, and no third party holding client footage or family archives. Cards are cheap, swappable and easy to hand over, duplicate or lock away, so storage scales with the project instead of with a monthly plan. For journalists, wedding shooters and travellers working off-grid, that independence is a feature in itself.

Compatibility and carrying

The MagVault is plug and play with no app required, working with iOS 17 and later, Android, macOS, Windows, Linux and ChromeOS over USB-C. MagSafe phones hold it natively; the bundled metal ring adds magnetic mounting to other phones. It is compact and travel-friendly, disappearing into a camera bag or a jacket pocket until the moment internal storage runs out.
