Ultra Prolink Smart Hub 5 UL1207

The Ultra Prolink Smart Hub 5 UL1207 is a compact 5-in-1 USB-C docking hub that expands the connectivity of Type-C enabled laptops, tablets and smartphones. From a single USB-C host connection it provides an HDMI output for a 4K external display, USB data ports for peripherals and storage, an Ethernet port for wired networking, and 100W Power Delivery pass-through so the host device can charge while the other ports are in use. The body is brushed aircraft-grade aluminium, chosen for durability and heat dissipation.

Key features

• 5-in-1 USB-C expansion for laptops, tablets and smartphones
• HDMI output supporting 4K external displays
• Ethernet port for stable wired networking
• USB data ports for peripherals and storage devices
• 100W Power Delivery pass-through charging
• Brushed aircraft-grade aluminium body for heat dissipation

The problem a hub solves

Current thin laptops, and many tablets, ship with one or two USB-C ports and nothing else. The moment you need a monitor, a wired network, a mouse receiver and a memory stick at the same time, you are short of sockets. A hub like the Smart Hub 5 parks all of those connections in one unit: the display cable, network cable and peripherals stay attached to the hub, and the laptop connects or disconnects with its single USB-C lead. That arrangement suits hot-desking, meeting rooms and home offices where the same desk setup serves different machines across the week.

Display and wired networking

The HDMI output connects the host to an external monitor, television or projector at up to 4K resolution, subject to the host device supporting video output over its USB-C port. A larger screen is the single biggest comfort upgrade for document work, spreadsheets and presentations. The Ethernet port adds wired networking, which gives a steadier connection than shared Wi-Fi for video meetings, large uploads and offices or hotels where wireless coverage is weak. Note that display and charging features depend on the capabilities of the host USB-C port itself; a port wired for data only cannot pass video through any hub.

Charging while connected

Power Delivery pass-through rated at up to 100W means the host’s USB-C charger connects to the hub and powers the laptop through the same cable that carries the display, network and USB connections. Without pass-through, a single-port laptop would have to choose between charging and using its accessories. With it, the machine charges during the working session while everything stays plugged in. The actual charging rate is set by the charger used and the maximum the host device accepts, and a portion of the power budget supports the hub’s own operation.

Build and portability

The brushed aircraft-grade aluminium shell serves two purposes: it protects the electronics in a bag better than a thin plastic housing, and it conducts heat away from the internal components during long sessions with several ports active, which is when small hubs run warmest. The compact form factor keeps it in the category of accessories that stay permanently in a laptop sleeve, ready for a meeting room or a trip, rather than equipment that has to be packed deliberately.

The Ultra Prolink Smart Hub 5 UL1207 gives USB-C laptops, tablets and phones a 4K display output, wired Ethernet, USB expansion and 100W pass-through charging from one compact aluminium hub.
