Ahuja PA 400S Mixer Amplifiers

Ahuja PA 400S Mobile PA Amplifier

The Ahuja PA-400S is a compact mobile PA amplifier in Ahuja’s PA series, a range designed specifically for vehicle and mobile applications. It operates on 12 V DC, so it runs directly from a vehicle electrical system, and it combines two microphone inputs, one auxiliary input and a two-tone siren in a single small chassis. Despite the model number, the PA-400S is a 40 watt amplifier: its rated power output is 40 W RMS at 10 percent THD, with 50 W RMS maximum. That output is well matched to the horn and compact PA speakers typically fitted to ambulances, patrol and utility vehicles, campaign vehicles and mobile announcement setups.

Key features

• Mobile PA amplifier designed for vehicle installation
• 40 W RMS rated output at 10 percent THD, 50 W RMS maximum
• Operates on 12 V DC vehicle power
• Two microphone inputs and one auxiliary input
• Built-in two-tone siren for alert and emergency signalling
• Speaker outputs for 4 ohm loads and 100 V line
• Compact, lightweight chassis at 2.10 kg

Inputs for announcements and programme sources

The two microphone inputs, each rated at 1 mV with 4.7 kOhm impedance, accept the handheld or gooseneck microphones normally used for spoken announcements from the driver’s or operator’s position. The auxiliary input, rated at 100 mV with 330 kOhm impedance, connects an external programme source such as a media player, so recorded messages or music can be played through the same speaker system when announcements are not being made. Individual control of the sources lets the operator balance a live voice against a recorded source, and the frequency response of 100 Hz to 10,000 Hz, within plus or minus 3 dB, is centred on the speech range where clarity of announcements matters most.

Siren and speaker outputs

A two-tone siren is built in, which is the feature that defines this class of amplifier for emergency and service vehicles: the same unit that carries voice announcements can also generate the alert tone those vehicles need, without a separate siren unit. On the output side, the amplifier provides a 4 ohm speaker output for direct low-impedance speaker connection and a 100 V line output, which suits installations where several speakers are distributed over longer cable runs, since the line arrangement keeps losses low over distance. Matching the connected speakers to the correct output keeps the amplifier working within its rating.

Built for mobile duty

At W180 x H80 x D240 mm and 2.10 kg, the PA-400S is small enough to mount in a vehicle cabin, equipment bay or compact mobile rack where space is limited. Running on 12 V DC removes any need for mains power or an inverter, so the system works wherever the vehicle goes and remains available whenever the vehicle electrics are live. The PA series, which also includes digital-player variants, is Ahuja’s long-running answer to a specific job: dependable voice amplification and signalling in vehicles and other mobile settings, in a unit that is simple to install, simple to operate and sized for the power level those applications actually require.

For fleet operators, emergency services and mobile announcement work, the PA-400S brings microphones, an auxiliary source and a siren together in one 12 V unit with enough output to be heard clearly through vehicle-mounted speakers.
