Denon Amplifier DRA-900H

Denon Amplifier DRA-900H – The Stereo Receiver That Refuses to Choose Between Hi-Fi and 8K

The DRA-900H exists for a specific listener: one who wants a proper two-channel hi-fi system – turntable, good speakers, music first – but whose living room also contains a PS5, an 8K television and a family’s worth of HDMI sources. Denon’s answer is a 2.2-channel stereo network receiver with 100 watts per channel of discrete, high-current amplification, six HDMI inputs with 8K and 4K/120 passthrough, HEOS streaming built in, and a phono stage for vinyl. It is one box at the centre of both the record shelf and the TV wall.

Key features

• 100 W per channel of discrete, high-current amplification
• 2.2-channel design with twin subwoofer pre-outs
• 6 HDMI inputs (3 supporting 8K) with 8K/60 and 4K/120 passthrough
• VRR and ALLM for next-generation console gaming
• HEOS Built-in for multiroom streaming from major services
• Phono (MM) input for turntables alongside digital and analogue inputs
• HDMI ARC/eARC for single-cable television audio
• FM tuner, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for everyday listening

Amplification first, features second – but both

Many receivers treat stereo as a side mode. The DRA-900H’s amplifier is the product: a custom-tuned discrete design with a substantial power supply, built to control real speakers tightly rather than merely make them loud. One hundred honest watts per channel drives demanding floorstanders with grip in the bass and air in the treble, and the 2.2 layout lets you add one or two subwoofers when the room or the music asks for more foundation.

8K video switching in a stereo box

Six HDMI inputs – three of them 8K-capable – with 8K/60 and 4K/120 passthrough, VRR and ALLM cover current and next-generation consoles, streamers and media players without compromise. ARC/eARC returns television audio through the same single cable, so broadcast and streaming apps play through the good speakers automatically. It is the connectivity of a modern AV receiver, minus the five extra channels you may never use.

HEOS and the record player, same shelf

HEOS Built-in streams high-resolution audio from services like Spotify, Tidal and Amazon Music, joins other HEOS speakers in a multiroom system, and works with voice assistants. Beside it sit the inputs stereo owners actually keep: a moving-magnet phono stage for turntables, analogue and digital connections for CD players and streamers, and an FM tuner. Old and new sources are equals here.

If your system is two speakers and a screen rather than seven speakers and a projector, the DRA-900H is very likely the exact receiver you have been describing.
