WiiM Mini Wireless Audio Streamer (Black)

WiiM Mini Wireless Audio Streamer (Black)

The WiiM Mini is a puck-sized wireless audio streamer in black that adds modern streaming to equipment you already own. Connect it to a powered speaker, a soundbar, an AV receiver or a hi-fi amplifier through its optical or 3.5 mm analogue output, join it to your Wi-Fi network with the WiiM Home app, and that system gains AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect and a long list of streaming services — with audio carried at up to 24-bit/192 kHz, bit-perfect, so the resolution you send is the resolution that reaches your system.

The Mini measures 69 x 69 x 24 mm and weighs 40 g, takes power over USB-C, and has capacitive touch controls for play, pause and volume on the unit itself. Voice control works through a compatible Alexa device or Siri on an Apple device, and the Mini groups with other WiiM and AirPlay 2 devices for multiroom playback and stereo pairing.

What bit-perfect hi-res streaming means

Many wireless receivers resample everything to a fixed rate before output. The WiiM Mini instead passes audio through at its native resolution up to 192 kHz and 24 bits, and its internal DAC — a Texas Instruments stereo DAC with a rated signal-to-noise ratio of 106 dB — handles the analogue output cleanly when you use it. Feed the optical output into a good external DAC or AV receiver and the Mini becomes a pure digital transport. Supported file formats include MP3, AAC, ALAC, APE, FLAC, WAV, WMA and OGG, covering most home libraries as well as streaming services.

Streaming services and protocols

From the WiiM Home app you can play Spotify, Amazon Music, TIDAL, Qobuz, Deezer, TuneIn, iHeartRadio, Napster and more, while Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect and Amazon Music Cast let you hand playback over from those services’ own apps. Apple users get AirPlay 2, which also enables grouping with HomePods and other AirPlay 2 speakers. DLNA support covers music stored on a NAS or computer on the same network. Note that the Mini does not include Google Cast or Roon Ready — those step up to other models in the WiiM range.

Multiroom, stereo pairing and voice

Several WiiM devices can play in sync across rooms, or two can be paired as a stereo pair feeding separate speakers for a wider soundstage. Because the Mini works with Alexa, an Echo device can start music, change tracks and adjust volume by voice; Siri offers the same through an Apple device. Presets in the app put favourite playlists and radio stations one tap away, and the on-device touch controls cover play, pause and volume when your phone is in another room.

Setup and daily use

Setup runs through the WiiM Home app: power the Mini from the USB-C port, connect an output cable — optical and 3.5 mm cables are supplied in the box — join your dual-band Wi-Fi network, and the streamer appears as a target in your music apps. Firmware updates arrive through the app, adding services and refinements over time. For an older amplifier or a pair of powered speakers, the WiiM Mini is one of the smallest and simplest routes to full modern streaming, multiroom audio and voice control without replacing the hardware you already like.
