The Arturia MiniFuse 2 in black is a 2-in, 2-out USB audio and MIDI interface built for musicians, podcasters and producers who want genuinely measured, studio-grade performance in a compact bus-powered box. Its two combo inputs each combine a microphone preamp, a line input and an instrument input in a single socket, so a vocal microphone and a guitar, or a stereo keyboard and a voice, can be recorded without repatching. Arturia publishes full laboratory-style specifications for the MiniFuse range, including a 110 dB dynamic range and a -129 dB equivalent input noise figure, and the MiniFuse 2 backs those numbers up with a solid aluminium chassis, backlit gain knobs that warn you when an input clips, and a software bundle that covers recording, instruments and effects from day one.
Everything runs over a single USB-C connection to a Mac or Windows computer, with no external power supply to carry. A stereo headphone output with its own level control, balanced monitor outputs, direct monitoring, MIDI in and out and even a small USB hub for a dongle or controller make the MiniFuse 2 a complete desktop recording hub rather than just an input box.
The numbers that matter most in an interface are noise and headroom, and Arturia specifies both openly. The microphone preamps offer a 56 dB gain range with an equivalent input noise of -129 dB (A-weighted, typical), a dynamic range of 110 dB and total harmonic distortion and noise of -100 dB at 1 kHz, so quiet sources such as fingerpicked guitar or spoken voice are captured without the hiss that gives away a budget interface. Line inputs accept up to +22 dBu for connecting synths and outboard gear without overload, while the instrument inputs present a 1.1 megaohm impedance so guitars and basses keep their natural top end when recorded directly. Switchable 48 V phantom power supports condenser microphones, and the backlit gain knobs turn red when you approach clipping, giving an instant visual check while you perform.
A large monitor level control feeds the balanced quarter-inch TRS outputs to your powered monitors, and the headphone output delivers 137 mW into 33 ohms with its own volume control, enough for comfortable tracking with most studio headphones. The monitor mix control blends direct input monitoring with computer playback, and a direct mono option sums the two inputs for mono sources. Unlike many compact rivals, the MiniFuse 2 keeps proper 5-pin MIDI in and out, so a hardware synth, drum machine or older keyboard connects directly without a separate MIDI interface. The built-in USB-A hub, rated at 250 mA, accepts a low-power accessory such as a licence dongle or compact controller, and the virtual loopback channel routes computer audio back into your recording software, which streamers and podcasters use to capture application sound alongside their microphone.
Arturia includes a substantial creative bundle: Analog Lab Intro with hundreds of keyboard and synth presets, four Arturia FX plug-ins covering a vintage preamp, plate reverb, tape delay and chorus, Ableton Live Lite for recording and arranging, and guitar amp modelling software, along with introductory subscriptions for vocal tuning and sample content. The aluminium enclosure feels a clear step above plastic rivals, the controls are firmly mounted, and the black finish suits a permanent desk setup as well as a laptop bag. Compatibility covers Windows 10 or later and macOS 10.13 or later, using a USB-C port wired as a USB 2.0 audio connection, which keeps latency behaviour consistent across machines.
For a first serious interface or a portable second rig, the MiniFuse 2 in black gets the fundamentals right: quiet and honest preamps, proper MIDI, flexible monitoring and published measurements you can compare like-for-like. It records two sources at once in high quality and stays out of the way while you work, which is exactly what a desktop interface should do.
