Why Choose Focusrite SCARLETT 4i4 3rd Gen USB Audio Interface?
A 2i2 is enough for recording, but routing needs outputs. The 4i4 adds them without jumping to a rack interface, keeping the same 3rd Gen preamps, Air mode and bus-powered convenience in a desktop box.
Key Features
Two 3rd Gen preamps: two microphone preamps with 56 dB of gain and single Air mode.
4-in/4-out routing: two preamps plus two line inputs, and four line outputs for monitors or outboard.
MIDI I/O: 5-pin MIDI in and out for keyboards, controllers and drum machines.
Loopback: loopback for streaming, sampling and podcast routing.
24-bit/192 kHz conversion: high-resolution conversion, bus-powered over USB-C.
Headphone output: a front-panel headphone output with independent level.
Best Suited For
Home studios with a synth or mixer alongside microphones, and creators who need four outputs for monitors, outboard or streaming. That is the buyer the Focusrite SCARLETT 4i4 3rd Gen USB Audio Interface is built for.
Setup and Connection Guide
Connect over USB-C, install Focusrite Control, plug microphones into the preamps and line sources into the rear inputs, connect monitors to two line outputs, and add MIDI devices to the 5-pin ports. Once connected, the Focusrite SCARLETT 4i4 3rd Gen USB Audio Interface is ready for its first session.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Focusrite SCARLETT 4i4 3rd Gen USB Audio Interface the same as the 4th Gen 4i4?
No. The 4th Gen adds 69 dB preamps, dual Air modes, Auto Gain and Clip Safe; this 3rd Gen model has 56 dB preamps and a single Air mode.
How many preamps does it have?
Two microphone preamps, plus two fixed line inputs, giving four inputs in total.
