The Rode Streamer X combines three devices that streamers and video creators normally have to buy and connect separately: a professional audio interface, an HDMI video capture card and a small control surface. In one compact unit it takes an XLR microphone or instrument, a headset or a Rode wireless microphone, captures camera or game video at up to 4K30, and passes the picture through to a monitor at up to 4K60, so a complete streaming or recording setup can be built around a single box on the desk instead of a chain of adapters, capture dongles and interfaces.

Audio built around the Revolution Preamp

Microphone quality decides how professional a stream sounds, and the Streamer X is built around Rode’s Revolution Preamp, which provides up to 76 dB of clean gain with very low self-noise. That matters with low-output dynamic broadcast microphones, which normally need an in-line booster to reach a usable level; here the gain is available inside the unit. The Neutrik combo jack accepts XLR microphones and line or instrument sources, phantom power supports condenser microphones, and a separate 3.5 mm TRRS connection covers headsets. A quarter-inch headphone output with direct monitoring lets you hear yourself without the delay of software monitoring.

Wireless and processing on board

An integrated receiver pairs directly with Rode Series IV wireless transmitters, including the Wireless GO II and Wireless ME, so a wireless lavalier or on-camera microphone can join the setup without a separate receiver taking up an input. On-board DSP powered by APHEX processing shapes the voice inside the unit, adding the compression, tonal polish and presence associated with broadcast chains before the signal reaches the streaming software. Because the processing happens in hardware, the sound stays consistent across applications, whether the destination is a live stream, a video call or a recording.

Video capture and pass-through

The HDMI input accepts signals up to 4K60 HDR, with capture at up to 4K30, 1440p60 or 1080p120 depending on the source and the resolution you choose, while the pass-through output sends up to 4K60 to your monitor with variable refresh rate support for gaming. Keeping capture and pass-through in the same device means the picture you play or present on is not delayed by the capture path, and the recording or stream still receives a high-quality feed. This suits gameplay capture, mirrorless camera streaming, presentations and any setup where one screen must serve both the presenter and the audience.

Control surface and dual-computer workflows

Four SMART pads trigger sounds, voice effects, MIDI commands and other actions during a session, with 2 GB of internal storage holding pad sounds inside the unit. Two USB-C connections allow two computers, or a computer and a console, to be connected at once, which simplifies dual-PC streaming layouts. Configuration is handled through Rode Central, and the free UNIFY software expands routing and mixing when several inputs are used together, so the hardware can start simple and grow into a more elaborate routing setup as a channel develops.

The Streamer X is aimed at streamers, gamers, podcasters and presenters who want one tidy device to handle microphone, camera and control duties properly.
