The Behringer XENYX 802S is a compact 8-input analog mixer with a built-in stereo USB streaming interface, designed for podcasters, streamers, small studios and anyone who needs to combine microphones and line-level sources under direct, hands-on control. Two XENYX microphone preamps with switchable 48V phantom power handle dynamic and condenser microphones, stereo channels take keyboards, media players and other line sources, and the USB connection sends the finished mix to a computer or mobile device while also bringing computer audio back into the mixer. It is an analog mixer first: every adjustment happens on a physical knob, with no menus and no software required to make it work.

Microphone preamps and input channels

Each of the two mono channels combines a balanced XLR microphone input with a balanced 1/4-inch line input, which cannot be used at the same time. The microphone preamps provide a gain range of +10 dB to +60 dB, a frequency response of 10 Hz to 150 kHz at +10 dB gain, 2 kohm balanced input impedance and distortion (THD and N) of 0.005 percent, so quiet microphones can be brought up to level cleanly. The mono line inputs accept balanced or unbalanced signals with a gain range of minus 10 dB to +40 dB. Stereo line channels handle left and right sources together, with a frequency response of 20 Hz to 200 kHz; using only the left jack of a stereo pair runs that channel in mono. A further stereo channel carries the USB return when no jack is inserted, and its level control then adjusts the USB input level.

EQ, effects send and streaming routing

Every input channel has a 3-band equaliser (low at 80 Hz, mid at 2.5 kHz, high at 12 kHz, each with up to 15 dB of boost or cut), a pan or balance control, a clip LED to warn of overload, a level control and, on the 802S, an FX send that feeds an external effects processor from each channel. The streaming section is what separates the S series from a basic mixer: RCA stream inputs accept a CD player, a phone or a second mixer, the stream output sends a copy of the main mix at a suitable level for a streaming computer or recorder, and the Stream to Mix and Stream to Monitor switches decide whether the incoming stream and USB audio join the main mix or are heard only in the headphones for cueing. This routing makes mix-minus style setups for remote guests practical on a very small desk.

USB interface, outputs and monitoring

The USB connection is class compliant and works as a stereo input and output at 48 kHz and 16-bit, so a computer sees the mixer without special drivers for basic use, and playback from the computer can be blended with live microphones for streaming. Main mix outputs are balanced 1/4-inch TRS connectors, a phones output with its own level control covers monitoring, and a 4-segment LED meter shows the output level. Power comes from the supplied adapter (100 to 240 V AC input, 18 V DC 1.0 A output, 12 W consumption), and the mixer measures 47 x 189 x 220 mm and weighs 1.6 kg.
