Zoom L6 Livetrack Mixer + Recorder

Zoom L6 Livetrack Mixer + Recorder – Compact 10-Channel Mixer with 32-Bit Float Multitrack Recording

The Zoom LiveTrak L6 is Zoom’s most compact digital mixer and recorder: a 10-channel mixer, 12-track recorder and 12-in, 4-out USB audio interface in a unit that measures just 223 mm wide and weighs 526 g. It is made for bands, synth players, podcasters and streamers who need a real mixer with full channel controls, onboard effects and reliable multitrack capture — without carrying a full-size desk.

The recording engine is the headline. The L6 records at 48 kHz in 32-bit float to microSD card, and its dual A/D converter design means there is no gain staging to get wrong: loud peaks do not clip and quiet parts can be lifted later without added noise. Every channel records as a discrete track along with the stereo mix, so a live performance can be remixed properly in a DAW afterwards.

Key features

• 10 input channels: 2 mic/line mono plus 4 stereo line channels
• 12-track simultaneous recording to microSD at 48 kHz, 32-bit float
• Dual A/D converters — no input gain adjustment needed, no clipping
• 12-in / 4-out USB audio interface for computer and mobile recording
• Full channel strips with 3-band EQ, two aux sends, pan and effects
• 5 internal send effects plus a compressor on the master output
• 4 assignable sound pads that also work as loopers
• 3 scene memories for mixer and tempo settings
• MIDI in and out for mixer control and USB MIDI workflows
• Runs on 4 AA batteries, USB bus power or the included AD-17 adapter

Mixer section

Channels 1 and 2 take microphones or line signals on XLR/TRS combo jacks with switchable 48 V phantom power, while channels 3 to 6 accept stereo line sources on jack inputs — keyboards, synths, media players and grooveboxes plug straight in. Each channel gets a 3-band EQ with a sweepable mid band, two aux sends, pan, mute and a level encoder with an LED ring, so the layout feels like a proper mixer rather than a menu system. Outputs cover a stereo master pair, two aux sends and a headphone monitor output, and the unit is Eurorack compatible with an optional adapter for modular setups.

Recording and interface duties

As a recorder, the L6 captures up to 12 tracks simultaneously as 32-bit float WAV files on microSDHC or microSDXC cards. As an interface, it streams 12 inputs and 4 outputs over USB at 48 kHz in 32-bit float or 24-bit, and it also works as a card reader for moving files to a computer. Equivalent input noise is a low -120 dBu, keeping microphone recordings clean.

Power and portability

Power options suit the field as well as the desk: four AA batteries give roughly 3 hours on alkaline, 3.5 hours on NiMH or up to 7 hours on lithium cells, and USB bus power or the included Zoom AD-17 adapter covers studio use. At 526 g, the L6 drops into a gig bag alongside the instruments it records.

For small bands, electronic musicians, streamers and podcast teams, the LiveTrak L6 packs a mixer’s control, a multitrack recorder’s safety net and an interface’s convenience into the smallest footprint Zoom has offered. It is a lot of capability in a very small box.
