Belkin 4-Outlet Power Strip, 1.5 Metre

Belkin 4-Outlet Power Strip, 1.5 Metre

This Belkin power strip provides four mains outlets on a 1.5-metre cable, turning one wall socket into a shared power point for a desk, an AV cabinet or a bedside cluster of chargers. It is an everyday power-distribution accessory rather than a piece of electronics: there is no battery inside, no conversion and no backup function, just four properly spaced sockets on a cable long enough to reach from the wall to where the equipment actually sits, from a maker whose power accessories are a standard sight in homes and offices.

Key features

• Four mains outlets from a single wall socket
• 1.5-metre cable for practical reach behind furniture
• For home office, AV and charging setups
• Belkin power accessory, indoor use
• Distributes power; does not convert voltage or provide backup
• Total load governed by the rating printed on the supplied unit

Planning the four sockets

Four outlets suit the typical cluster: a monitor, a laptop charger, a desk lamp and a phone charger, or a television, a streaming box, a soundbar and a console. Plan around plug shapes as much as socket count, because bulky wall-wart adapters can cover a neighbouring socket even on a well-spaced strip. Put the largest adapters at the ends of the strip where they have room, keep the strip itself somewhere the plugs can seat fully, and resist using every socket simply because it exists: the strip shares one wall socket’s supply between all four outlets.

Load and safety, stated plainly

A power strip does not create capacity. The safe total load for everything plugged into this strip together is the rating marked on the unit itself and on its packaging, and that figure, not the number of sockets, is the limit to work to. High-draw heating appliances do not belong on a shared strip with electronics. Never daisy-chain one extension strip into another, keep the strip dry and ventilated, route the 1.5-metre cable so it is not trapped under furniture legs or pinched in doors, and replace the strip if the cable, plug or housing is damaged. This listing does not state a surge-protection rating, so the strip should be bought as power distribution; equipment that needs documented surge protection or battery backup needs a protector or a UPS chosen for that job.

Where it earns its place

The 1.5-metre cable is the useful middle length: long enough to bring power up from a floor-level wall socket to a desktop or across to an AV unit, short enough that the excess coils away without a tangle. In a finished setup the strip disappears behind the desk or cabinet, the cables radiate from one point, and the wall socket count stops dictating where equipment can go.

Before you plug in

Check the voltage and total-load markings on the supplied unit against the equipment you intend to run, confirm every plug seats fully, and switch on one device at a time. If a connected system must keep running through a power cut, that is a UPS requirement, and no power strip, this one included, meets it.

Four sockets, a sensible cable length and Belkin build: this strip is the simple, correct answer to the one-socket problem behind most desks and television units.
