Belden XLR Male-to-Female Cable, 1.5 Metre — Neutrik

Belden XLR Male-to-Female Cable, 1.5 Metre (Neutrik Connectors)

This is a finished 1.5 metre XLR male-to-female audio lead built on Belden cable stock and terminated with Neutrik XLR connectors. It is the standard microphone and balanced line lead format in its shortest working length: the patch from a microphone to a nearby mixer, a processor to the unit below it in the rack, or a powered speaker to the desk beside it. Short leads matter more than they are credited for: the right length keeps racks and desks tidy, with no coils of spare cable acting as antennas and trip hazards.

Key features

• Finished 1.5 metre XLR male-to-female lead
• Belden cable stock for the run
• Neutrik XLR connectors at both ends
• The standard microphone and balanced line format
• Ideal for rack patches and desk-side connections
• Balanced audio where the connected equipment is balanced

The universal audio lead, short format

Three-pin XLR male-to-female is the most widely used connection in professional audio because it is robust, latching and balanced. This lead follows that format exactly, with Neutrik terminations, the connector brand most engineers specify by default, on Belden cable. At 1.5 metres it serves the connections that happen within arm’s reach: microphone to a desktop mixer, an interface to a monitor controller, one rack unit to the next. Used between balanced equipment it carries a balanced mono signal, which keeps even short runs quiet in electrically busy racks.

Why length discipline pays

Excess cable is not harmless. Coils behind a desk collect interference, tangle around the next engineer’s work and hide the one lead you need during a fault. A stock of correct lengths, 1.5 metres for local patches, longer leads for stage runs, is how working systems stay serviceable. This lead exists for the local end of that system, and pairing it with its 10 metre sibling covers most rooms without adapters or joins.

Using it well

Turn the receiving channel down before connecting or removing the lead. Align the plugs, seat them fully and confirm the latch before raising gain. Enable phantom power only when the microphone and the complete path support it. Avoid crushing or tight bends, and coil the lead without forcing twists when packing it away.

Stocking the lengths

Engineers think of cable stock as a system: short patches for the rack, medium leads for the desk and stage edge, long leads for the room. This 1.5 metre lead is the short patch of that system, built to the same standard as its longer siblings so any engineer can reach into the box and trust what comes out. Keeping two or three in the kit covers the microphone that lands closer to the mixer than planned, which is most of them.

For microphones and balanced line signals over a short, tidy run, this Belden and Neutrik XLR lead is the standard-format answer at 1.5 metres.
