Honeywell HDMI AOC 2.1 Cable 30 Metres

The Honeywell HDMI AOC 2.1 cable is a 30-metre active optical cable (AOC) built for long HDMI runs that copper cannot handle at full speed. Instead of sending the high-speed video signal down copper conductors, it converts it to light and carries it over fibre, which is how it sustains the full HDMI 2.1 bandwidth of 48Gbps across all 30 metres. It supports UHD resolutions up to 8K at 60Hz and 4K at 120Hz, making it the right tool when a projector, large television or gaming display sits far from the source rack, media player or console. Connectors are HDMI Type A male at both ends with gold-plated contacts.

Key features

• Active optical (fibre) construction for full performance over 30 metres
• HDMI 2.1 with 48Gbps bandwidth
• Supports 8K at 60Hz and 4K at 120Hz UHD resolutions
• eARC and ARC support for returning television audio to a soundbar or AV receiver
• Gold-plated HDMI Type A male connectors at both ends
• Thin, flexible fibre cable that routes through conduit more easily than thick copper
• Suitable for TVs, projectors, gaming consoles, PCs and media players

Why active optical matters at 30 metres

Passive copper HDMI cables lose high-frequency signal as length increases. At 30 metres, a copper cable cannot carry an uncompressed 48Gbps HDMI 2.1 signal reliably, which shows up as dropouts, sparkles or a picture that falls back to a lower resolution. An AOC cable avoids that limit: electrical-to-optical converters in the connector heads send the video over fibre, so the signal arrives intact at the far end. Fibre is also immune to electromagnetic interference from power cables, lighting dimmers and other wiring in the same route, a real advantage in commercial and home theatre installations.

Installation notes

Active optical cables are directional. The end marked Source connects to the player, console or computer; the end marked Display connects to the television or projector. Fit it the wrong way round and you will get no picture, so check the markings before the cable disappears into a wall or ceiling. Keep bends gentle, avoid pulling the cable by its connector heads, and test the complete chain at your intended resolution and refresh rate before closing up the route. Power for the optical converters is drawn from the HDMI ports themselves, so no separate power supply is needed.

Compatibility

The cable follows the HDMI 2.1 specification and is backward compatible with earlier HDMI equipment: connected to HDMI 2.0 or 1.4 devices it simply works at whatever those devices support. For 8K at 60Hz or 4K at 120Hz, both the source and the display must support the format, and any AV receiver or switch in the middle of the chain must pass it through. eARC lets a compatible television send its audio back along the same cable to a soundbar or receiver.

If your source and screen are separated by a room, a floor or a full equipment rack’s worth of distance, this 30-metre Honeywell AOC cable delivers full HDMI 2.1 performance where ordinary copper leads give up.
