Q3 HDMI Cable 1.5 M High Speed 1.5 Metre (5 Feet)

Q3 HDMI Cable 1.5m High Speed

The Q3 HDMI Cable is a 1.5 metre, High Speed HDMI cable with an HDMI connector at each end, made for connecting a source such as a set-top box, DVD player or camcorder to a TV or HDTV. It is a plain, practical home entertainment cable in black, with a round profile that routes neatly behind a TV unit. For the everyday connections most living rooms actually use, a cable like this is the link that carries picture and sound together in a single lead, replacing separate video and audio connections.

Key features

• 1.5 metre length, approximately 5 feet
• HDMI connector at each end for a direct source-to-display connection
• High Speed cable, as described by the listing
• Round cable profile in black
• Listed for TVs, HDTVs, DVD players, VCRs, set-top boxes and camcorders

What this cable connects

HDMI carries digital picture and sound over one cable, so a single Q3 cable is all that sits between a source and a display. A set-top box can feed a TV, a DVD player can feed an HDTV, and a camcorder can play its recordings straight onto the large screen, each with one connection at each end. Because the connectors are the same at both ends, there is no direction to get wrong during setup: either plug can go into the source and the other into the display. Inputs on the TV are selected with the TV remote, and the source picture appears on the chosen HDMI input.

Choosing the right length

Length is the specification that decides whether a cable works comfortably in a real room. At 1.5 metres, this cable suits the most common arrangement, where the source sits in the same TV unit as the display, on the shelf below or beside it. The run is long enough to connect equipment stacked in a cabinet without strain on the sockets, and short enough that there is little spare cable to coil and hide. Measuring the actual path the cable will take, including the drop behind furniture and a small amount of slack for pulling equipment forward, gives a reliable length before choosing any HDMI cable.

Installation and care

Push each plug straight into its socket until it seats fully, and route the cable away from sharp furniture edges and tight pinch points. Avoid forcing a sharp bend immediately behind either connector, since that bend point is where cables are most often damaged. If a picture fails to appear, the usual checks are simple: confirm the TV is set to the HDMI input the cable is plugged into, reseat both ends, and confirm the source is switched on and playing. Kept routed and unstressed, an HDMI cable like this needs no maintenance and can stay in place through changes of the equipment around it.

A sensible spare and second-room cable

Many homes end up needing more HDMI connections than they first expect: a streaming box added to a bedroom TV, a camcorder brought out for family recordings, a DVD player moved to a second room. A straightforward High Speed cable at this length covers those jobs without overthinking the purchase. The black round cable blends into the shadow behind most TV units, does its work invisibly, and is equally useful as the main connection for a simple setup or as the spare kept in a drawer for the day another source needs connecting.
