Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones 2nd Gen (Midnight Violet)

The Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen) in Midnight Violet are Bose’s flagship over-ear noise cancelling headphones, built for long hours in aircraft cabins, trains, open-plan offices and busy homes. This second generation keeps the QuietComfort formula of strong active noise cancellation, plush comfort and Bose Immersive Audio, then adds longer battery life, lossless USB-C audio, a Cinema Mode for video, and improved call quality and on-head detection. Midnight Violet is a limited-edition deep purple finish, paired with polished metal yokes and soft protein-leather cushions.

Noise Cancelling and Listening Modes

Quiet Mode applies full noise cancellation for flights and focused work, cutting the roar of engines, air conditioning and traffic so music can be played at lower, safer levels. Aware Mode lets surrounding sound back in for street use and conversations, and ActiveSense automatically raises cancellation when a sudden loud noise appears. Immersion Mode combines full cancellation with Immersive Audio, and this generation also lets you switch cancelling off entirely, which extends battery life considerably.

Immersive Audio, Cinema Mode and Sound

Bose Immersive Audio places sound in a wider, more natural space in front of you rather than inside your head. Still mode suits seated listening, Motion mode keeps the soundstage stable as you move, and the new Cinema Mode is tuned for dialogue clarity with films and series. CustomTune measures your ear acoustics each time you put the headphones on and adapts the sound to match, while the Bose app provides adjustable EQ.

Connections, Calls and Battery

Bluetooth 5.4 with multipoint keeps a laptop and phone connected together, switching between a meeting and a call without re-pairing, and Google Fast Pair simplifies Android setup. aptX Adaptive delivers higher-quality, low-latency streaming from Snapdragon Sound certified phones. For wired listening, USB-C audio carries lossless 16-bit audio at 44.1 or 48 kHz and works while charging, and a 2.5 mm input covers seat-back entertainment systems. The improved microphone system focuses on your voice for clearer calls. Battery life reaches up to 30 hours with cancelling on, about 23 hours with Immersive Audio, and up to 45 hours with it off; a full charge takes around three hours, and a 15-minute top-up adds roughly three hours of playback.

Design, Comfort and Controls

The over-ear cushions and padded headband are shaped for multi-hour wear, the earcups fold flat into the included hard case, and on-head detection pauses playback when you remove them, resuming on return. Physical buttons and a capacitive touch strip handle volume, tracks, calls and modes, and automatic low-power modes protect the battery between uses.

In Midnight Violet, the QuietComfort Ultra (2nd Gen) suits frequent flyers, hybrid workers and film lovers who want Bose’s strongest noise cancelling, spatial audio for music and video, and the flexibility to listen wirelessly, over lossless USB-C, or on a plane’s wired system.
