JBL Live 660NC Wireless Over-Ear Headphones

The JBL Live 660NC is a wireless over-ear headphone with Adaptive Noise Cancelling, built around 40 mm dynamic drivers and JBL Signature Sound. It is designed as an all-day headphone for work, travel and commuting: battery life runs to up to 50 hours with noise cancelling off, the earcups fold for transport in the supplied carrying pouch, and multipoint Bluetooth keeps two devices connected at once. Smart Ambient features let you choose how much of the outside world to hear, and the My JBL Headphones app provides equaliser and voice assistant settings.

Sound

The 40 mm dynamic drivers cover a specified frequency response of 16 Hz to 20 kHz, with 32 ohm impedance, 97 dB SPL sensitivity at 1 kHz and 1 mW, and a maximum sound pressure level of 94 dB. JBL Signature Sound is the tuning found across the brand’s live and studio products, with enhanced bass weight under a clear midrange and treble, which suits pop, electronic and rock as well as video soundtracks. The My JBL Headphones app provides equaliser presets and custom EQ, so the balance can be adjusted for different content without changing headphones.

Noise cancelling and ambient modes

Adaptive Noise Cancelling reduces surrounding noise so you can stay focused on music, calls or work in busy environments such as aircraft cabins, trains and open-plan offices. When awareness matters, Ambient Aware increases ambient sound so you can hear traffic and announcements while the headphones stay on. TalkThru goes further for conversation: it lowers the music and amplifies speech, so a short chat does not require removing the headphones. These modes can be switched from the headphones and configured in the app.

Comfort and design

The Live 660NC weighs 265 g. Padded earcups and a cushioned headband support longer listening sessions, and the foldable design packs down into the included carrying pouch for travel and storage. Controls sit on the earcup, covering playback, volume, calls and noise cancelling modes, and hands-free stereo calls are handled through the built-in microphone, which has a specified sensitivity of -19 dBV at 1 kHz per Pa. A detachable audio cable is included for wired use with in-flight systems, laptops or a flat battery.

Battery and connectivity

The lithium-ion polymer battery is rated at 750 mAh and 3.7 V. It delivers up to 50 hours of music playback with Bluetooth on and noise cancelling off, and up to 40 hours with noise cancelling on, and it recharges from empty in under 2 hours over USB-C. Bluetooth 5.0 supports HFP 1.7, A2DP 1.3 and AVRCP 1.6 profiles, and multipoint connection allows two devices, such as a laptop and a phone, to remain connected so calls can be taken without manual switching. Voice assistants can be triggered by voice or a tap, with the preferred assistant selected in the app.

For listeners who want one headphone for focused work, travel and everyday listening, the Live 660NC combines JBL’s 40 mm Signature Sound, adaptive cancelling and genuinely multi-day battery life in a foldable over-ear design.
