Shokz OpenMove Open-Ear Headphone (Blue)

Shokz OpenMove Open-Ear Headphones (Blue)

The Shokz OpenMove in Blue is the entry point to bone conduction listening: headphones that send sound through your cheekbones and leave your ear canals completely open. This listing is the Blue finish of the OpenMove (model S661). Instead of covering or plugging your ears, the transducers sit just in front of them, so music, podcasts and calls arrive while traffic, training partners, colleagues and announcements stay audible. For runners, cyclists, walkers and office workers who cannot afford to be cut off from their surroundings, that awareness is the whole design brief.

How bone conduction sounds

OpenMove uses Shokz’s 7th generation bone conduction transducers with PremiumPitch 2.0, which optimises the vibration delivery for clearer mid and high frequencies and more balanced stereo sound than earlier generations. The rated frequency response is 20 Hz to 20 kHz with speaker sensitivity of 96 plus or minus 3 dB. Bone conduction will never match a sealed headphone for deep bass weight, and OpenMove does not pretend otherwise; what it offers is clear, present sound for music, spoken word and calls while your ears stay open, with noticeably less sound leakage than older bone conduction designs.

Fit, frame and all-day comfort

The wraparound frame combines a titanium headband with polycarbonate ear hooks, giving a springy, secure fit that flexes rather than clamps. At 29 grams the headphones are easy to forget during a long run, a commute or a full working day, and there is nothing in or over the ear canal to cause the pressure and heat that in-ear buds build up. The fit works with glasses and sits under open-face helmets, and the Blue finish makes the headset easy to spot in a gym bag. Physical buttons handle power, volume and the multifunction controls, and they remain usable with gloves on, unlike touch panels.

Battery, resistance and calls

The 135 mAh rechargeable lithium polymer battery gives up to 6 hours of continuous listening or talk time and up to 10 days on standby, recharging fully in about 2 hours over USB-C. The IP55 rating protects against dust and water jets, covering sweat and rain during training; it is not a swimming rating and the headphones should not be submerged. For calls, dual noise-cancelling microphones with minus 40 dB sensitivity focus on your voice, and because your ears are open, your own voice sounds natural rather than muffled, which makes phone and video calls noticeably more comfortable.

Connection and EQ modes

Bluetooth 5.1 connects over a 10 metre range with HSP, HFP, A2DP and AVRCP profiles, and multipoint pairing keeps two devices connected at once, so you can listen from a laptop and still take a call from your phone. Three EQ settings adapt the sound: Standard mode for general listening, Vocal Booster mode that brings voices forward for podcasts and audiobooks, and Earplug mode for use with the included earplugs in louder environments such as flights. A carry pouch and USB-C charging cable are included in the box.

If you want to try open-ear listening without paying flagship prices, the OpenMove in Blue is the sensible start: proven bone conduction technology, a 29 gram titanium frame, IP55 protection and call quality that holds up outdoors.
