Sonos Ace Wireless Headphones – Black

Sonos Ace Wireless Headphones – Black – Over-Ear Headphones with ANC and TV Audio Swap

The Sonos Ace in Black is Sonos’s first pair of headphones, and it carries the company’s room-filling approach into a personal, over-ear design. A custom-designed 40 mm dynamic driver sits in each cup, tuned for the balanced, precise sound Sonos owners expect, while eight microphones handle noise control and voice targeting. It works as a standalone premium Bluetooth headphone first — and then adds tricks no rival offers if you own a Sonos soundbar.

The headline is TV Audio Swap. Press the Content Key and the sound from a compatible Sonos soundbar moves straight to the Ace, so films continue at full volume in your ears while the room stays quiet. Add Dolby Atmos with dynamic head tracking and TrueCinema, which maps your space to render a lifelike surround field, and late-night cinema becomes a genuine strength rather than a compromise.

Sound and noise control

The Ace is tuned for clarity and precision across the range, with bass, treble and loudness adjustable in the Sonos app. Spatial audio streams from supported services and devices, and dynamic head tracking keeps the soundstage centred as you move. The ANC shuts out commute and cabin noise effectively, while Aware Mode blends the room back in for announcements, traffic or conversation. Lossless listening is available over Bluetooth from supported Snapdragon Sound devices, or wired over USB-C from any source.

Comfort, controls and battery

At 312 g with plush memory-foam ear cushions and a matte finish, the Ace is built for long sessions without clamp fatigue. Controls are physical and easy to learn: the Content Key slides for volume and presses for playback and calls, a Noise Control button switches between ANC and Aware Mode, and wear detection pauses automatically when you take the headphones off. Battery life runs up to 30 hours of listening or 24 hours of talk time with noise control on, a full charge takes about two hours, and Bluetooth multipoint keeps a phone and laptop connected together.

In the Sonos system, and out of it

Ace owners with a Sonos soundbar get the full private-cinema experience, but nothing about the headphone depends on it: setup is a simple Bluetooth pairing, the Sonos app handles EQ and updates, and a USB-C to 3.5 mm cable covers in-flight entertainment and analogue sources. The slim travel case is made from recycled materials and includes a magnetically detachable cable pouch.

In Black, the Sonos Ace is the discreet, versatile choice: refined noise-cancelling headphones for travel and work, with a private home-cinema mode waiting at home. Few headphones serve both roles this well.
