Sony WH-1000XM6 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones Platinum Silver

Sony WH-1000XM6 Platinum Silver Wireless Headphones

The Sony WH-1000XM6 Platinum Silver Wireless Headphones are Sony’s flagship over-ear noise cancelling headphones in the light Platinum Silver finish. A new HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3 working with 12 microphones, 30mm carbon fibre composite drivers and up to 30 hours of battery life with noise cancelling on make them a strong choice for frequent travellers, office workers and listeners who want one pair of headphones for music, calls and long days out.

Why Choose Sony WH-1000XM6 Platinum Silver?

Flagship headphones are judged on the flight, the commute and the long workday, and this flagship pair is built for exactly those hours. The QN3 processor runs faster than the previous generation’s chip, and with 12 microphones sampling the surroundings it can cancel a wider range of background noise while keeping voices and music natural rather than hollow. The redesigned 30mm drivers use a carbon fibre composite dome for detailed highs and controlled bass, and the wider headband spreads the approximately 254g weight so the headphones stay comfortable across a full day. A folding hinge, missing from the previous generation, lets the headphones pack down into their case, and a 3-minute quick charge gives roughly 3 hours of playback when time is short. Platinum Silver is the lightest, most understated finish in the range, showing less contrast against pale clothing and bright rooms than the darker colours.

Best Suited For

These headphones suit travellers who fly often and need strong cancellation with all-day battery, and office workers who switch between calls and focused music. It suits listeners who stream high-resolution audio over LDAC on Android, as well as Apple users who will use AAC, and it suits anyone who disliked the non-folding design of the previous model. The Platinum Silver finish suits buyers who prefer a lighter, quieter look than black.

Setup and Connection Guide

Charge the headphones over USB before first use; a full charge takes approximately 3.5 hours. Pair over Bluetooth by holding the power button until the voice prompt confirms pairing mode, then select the headphones on the phone or laptop. For two devices at once, pair the second device the same way and enable multipoint in the Sony Headphones Connect app, where equaliser presets, ambient sound levels and noise cancelling behaviour can also be adjusted. For wired listening, connect the supplied approximately 1.2m cable to the stereo mini jack; the headphones also work passively with the unit off. Fold the earcups inward to pack the headphones into the carrying case for travel.
