The Bose L1 Pro8 is a self-powered portable line array system that combines a C-shaped articulated array, an integrated bass module and a three-channel digital mixer in a single modular package. It is the most portable model in the L1 Pro family and is designed for singer-songwriters, small ensembles, presenters and mobile performers who need even coverage in intimate rooms without carrying a separate mixer, subwoofer and monitor setup.

Coverage and sound character

A line array behaves differently from a conventional point-source box. Sound level stays more consistent from the front of the audience to the back, and the wide horizontal pattern means listeners at the sides still hear a balanced mix. Bose rates frequency response at 45 Hz to 16 kHz at -3 dB, with a range of 33 Hz to 18 kHz at -10 dB, and calculated maximum output of 112 dB continuous and 118 dB peak at one metre. The 200 Hz crossover hands low frequencies to the RaceTrack driver, leaving the small array drivers to handle vocals and instruments with clarity.

Mixer, inputs and control

Channels 1 and 2 accept microphone, instrument or line signals through combo XLR and quarter-inch connectors, with phantom power for condenser microphones. Channel 3 combines a quarter-inch line input, a 3.5 mm stereo input summed to mono and Bluetooth audio streaming using AAC and SBC codecs. Illuminated controls on the power stand cover volume, tone and reverb, while the L1 Mix app mirrors those controls on a phone. A dedicated ToneMatch port connects an optional Bose T4S or T8S mixer over a single cable that carries both audio and power, and a balanced XLR line output can feed another system or a recording device.

Portability and setup

The system separates into the power stand, array and array extension, so it packs into a smaller space than its assembled height of about 2,000 mm suggests. Total weight is 17.4 kg. Assembly is tool-free: the extension and array slot into the stand, power is connected, and sources are plugged into the rear panel. Convection cooling avoids fan noise, which matters in quiet rooms such as places of worship, studios and small listening spaces.
