JMGO N1S Ultimate 4K Projector

JMGO N1S Ultimate 4K Projector

The JMGO N1S Ultimate is the flagship model in the N1S lifestyle projector range, built around a triple-colour laser light engine and a motorised gimbal stand that lets the body tilt and swivel to aim the picture. It produces a 4K UHD image at 3840 x 2160 resolution using a 0.47-inch DMD DLP chip with pixel shifting, and JMGO rates brightness at 3,500 ANSI lumens, also quoted as 3,300 ISO lumens. That output is unusually high for a compact, movable projector, so the picture holds together on large screens and in rooms that are not fully darkened. Google TV is built in, which means streaming applications, voice search and casting are handled by the projector itself rather than by an external box.

Key features

• Resolution: 4K UHD 3840 x 2160 via 0.47-inch DMD DLP chip
• Brightness: 3,500 ANSI lumens from MALC 2.0 triple-colour laser optics
• Colour gamut: 110 percent of BT.2020 with 10-bit colour
• Gimbal stand: integrated stand rotating 360 degrees and tilting 135 degrees
• Smart platform: Google TV with Chromecast built in
• Audio: 2 x 10W speakers with Dolby Audio and DTS support
• Light source life: laser rated up to 30,000 hours

Triple laser picture quality

The MALC 2.0 optical engine uses separate red, green and blue laser diodes instead of a colour wheel or a single blue laser with phosphor. Because each primary is generated directly, the projector covers 110 percent of the BT.2020 colour space and renders 1.07 billion colours, so saturated reds, greens and teals in HDR material keep their separation instead of clipping. JMGO quotes a 1,600:1 full on/off contrast ratio. HDR10 decoding is supported, and the laser source maintains its output over a rated life of up to 30,000 hours without lamp changes, which suits a projector that may be used daily for films, sport and streaming series.

Gimbal design and automatic setup

The projector body sits in an integrated gimbal stand that rotates through 360 degrees horizontally and tilts through 135 degrees vertically, so it can project onto a wall or upward toward a ceiling without a separate mount or a stack of books. Time-of-flight and camera sensors drive automatic focus, keystone correction, screen alignment and obstacle avoidance each time the unit is moved. That automation matters in a portable design: the picture is squared and sharp within seconds of repositioning, and eye-protection sensing reduces output when someone passes close to the lens.

Sound, connections and everyday use

Two 10-watt speakers are built into the chassis, tuned for Dolby Audio and DTS decoding, with bass extension reaching down to around 45 Hz, so dialogue and effects are usable without an external sound system. Connections include two HDMI 2.1 ports, one supporting eARC for passing audio to a soundbar or AV receiver, plus a USB 2.0 port. Wi-Fi 6 handles wireless networking and Chromecast casting from phones and laptops. Operating noise is quoted below 26 dB in typical use, low enough that fan sound does not compete with quiet film scenes when the projector sits near the seating position.

The N1S Ultimate suits viewers who want a large 4K image without committing a room to a fixed ceiling installation. It can live on a side table or shelf, be carried between a living room and a bedroom, and still deliver the brightness and colour range normally associated with larger home cinema projectors. Screen sizes well beyond what a television offers are achievable from its 1.2:1 throw ratio, while the sealed laser engine avoids the ongoing cost and brightness loss of replacement lamps.
