Beyerdynamic TG V50 Cardioid Dynamic Microphone

Beyerdynamic TG V50 Dynamic Vocal Microphone

The Beyerdynamic TG V50 is a dynamic vocal microphone from the German maker’s TG touring range — a cardioid handheld built for live stages, rehearsal rooms and presentation work, where a microphone must survive being dropped, shouted into and passed between hands while keeping voices clear over a band. Its frequency response of 50 Hz to 17 kHz is shaped for vocal presence, and the cardioid pattern concentrates on the singer while rejecting the monitors and the room behind.

Beyerdynamic has made microphones in Heilbronn for decades, and the TG series carries that discipline into working price points: a robust metal housing, an internal shockmount that keeps handling noise out of the PA, and a pop filter built into the grille. The result is a microphone a singer can lean on — consistent from venue to venue, indifferent to weather and travel, and requiring no phantom power from the desk.

On stage

Live vocal microphones are judged at the worst moment: a loud stage, a singer who moves, a monitor engineer fighting feedback. The TG V50’s cardioid rejection and controlled proximity effect keep the voice forward and the spill down, and its presence tuning cuts through guitars without the engineer carving the channel. Rehearsal rooms and house-of-worship stages value the same qualities at lower volume.

Speech and presentation

Off the stage, the TG V50 is a dependable speech microphone — panels, teaching, announcements — anywhere a handheld dynamic is the right tool. Its weight and balance suit long handheld sessions, and the on-body behaviour is predictable enough that occasional users sound good without coaching.

Care

Rinse the foam windscreen, not the capsule; store the microphone dry; and coil its cable loosely. Dynamic microphones of this build routinely give decades of service, which is the real economy of buying a proper one.

For singers and speakers who need a stage microphone from a maker that specialises in them, the TG V50 is the solid, honest choice.

Ownership notes

The TG V50’s accessories are the usual working set — a mic clip and a pouch are included, and a foam windscreen is worth adding for outdoor stages. Keep the XLR connector clean, coil cables over-under so they lie flat for the next show, and the microphone will keep its manners. Beyerdynamic’s stage microphones are built to be inherited by the next singer in the band as much as bought by the first.
