The Electro-Voice PL24S is built for buyers who want proven professional performance without compromise, and this listing covers what it does, who it suits, and how to set it up. Whether it is going into a venue, a studio, a place of worship or a creator desk, the Electro-Voice PL24S earns its place by doing its core job exceptionally well, with the build quality and control expected from its brand.
Why Choose the Electro-Voice PL24S?
The PL24S is the microphone for singers and presenters who want a professional Electro-Voice vocal sound without a professional price tag: a neodymium dynamic capsule gives the voice presence and body, while the tight supercardioid pattern rejects monitors, drums and room noise so the vocal stays forward in the mix. The switched version adds a simple on/off control on the handle, which presenters and karaoke hosts appreciate, and the shock-mounted capsule and Memraflex grille are built to survive being passed around night after night. The Electro-Voice PL24S is a practical, long-term choice: it is designed to be used daily, to integrate with the rest of a system, and to keep performing long after cheaper alternatives have been replaced.
Key Features
Vocals that cut through: the supercardioid pattern focuses on the singer and rejects off-axis stage noise, keeping vocals clear in a loud mix.
A switch where you need it: the S version's on/off switch sits on the handle for quick muting between songs or speakers.
Built for the stage: the shock-mounted capsule keeps handling noise low, and the tight-mesh Memraflex grille stands up to drops and dents.
Natural, even response: the PL24 family is voiced for a full, even vocal sound, with a modest proximity effect up close for added warmth.
Honest value: an entry-level price with the build and voicing of the wider PL Series makes it an easy choice for schools, bands and venues.
Best Suited For
The PL24S suits live vocalists, karaoke hosts, presenters, schools, houses of worship, small venues and rehearsal rooms that need a dependable wired vocal microphone with good feedback rejection.
Setup and Connection Guide
Connect the PL24S to a mixer or PA with a standard microphone cable, set the channel gain so the loudest vocal peaks sit just below clipping, and hold the microphone close, within a few centimetres, for the fullest vocal tone. Aim the rear of the microphone away from floor monitors to make the most of the supercardioid rejection, and use the handle switch to mute between songs or speakers. Take a few minutes to test the Electro-Voice PL24S at working volume before the event or session, so levels, placement and presets are settled well in advance.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the S in PL24S mean?
The S denotes the switched version of the PL24, with an on/off switch on the handle. The unswitched PL24 is the same microphone without the switch.
Is the PL24S a wireless microphone?
No. The PL24S is a wired handheld vocal microphone and connects to a mixer or PA with a standard microphone cable.
Is the PL24S good for live vocals?
Yes. Its dynamic neodymium capsule, tight supercardioid pattern and shock-mounted design are made for live stages, where feedback rejection and handling-noise control matter most.
