Native Instruments KOMPLETE KONTROL A61 61-Key Smart Keyboard Controller
The Native Instruments KOMPLETE KONTROL A61 61-Key Smart Keyboard Controller is a 61-key smart keyboard controller that puts Komplete and NKS instruments under the fingers at an accessible price. The Native Instruments KOMPLETE KONTROL A61 61-Key Smart Keyboard Controller combines a custom semi-weighted NI keybed with an informative OLED display, eight touch-sensitive control knobs, ergonomic pitch and modulation wheels and a four-directional push encoder, so browsing, performing and sound-shaping stay on the hardware rather than on the mouse. Through the Komplete Kontrol software it offers pre-mapped control of Komplete instruments and effects plus hundreds of Native Kontrol Standard plug-ins, while Smart Play adds scales, chords and arpeggios for composition and live playing. For producers and players who want deep NI integration without the size or cost of the S series, the Native Instruments KOMPLETE KONTROL A61 61-Key Smart Keyboard Controller is the entry point into the NI world.
Players choose the Native Instruments KOMPLETE KONTROL A61 61-Key Smart Keyboard Controller because it balances feel, control and software depth in a compact 61-key instrument. The custom semi-weighted keybed gives enough resistance for expressive piano, synth and drum parts while recovering fast enough for repeated notes, and the OLED display shows sounds and parameters at a glance during browsing and tweaking. Eight touch-sensitive knobs arrive pre-mapped to the most important parameters of supported instruments, so a loaded preset is playable and editable immediately rather than after manual MIDI mapping. Smart Play is a genuine creative tool rather than a gimmick: over 100 scales and modes can be kept in key, chords and arpeggios can be played from single keys, and a scale can be mapped to the white keys only. Add USB bus power, a sustain or expression pedal input and DAW transport control, and the Native Instruments KOMPLETE KONTROL A61 61-Key Smart Keyboard Controller covers the whole production workflow from one cable.

Best Suited For
The Native Instruments KOMPLETE KONTROL A61 61-Key Smart Keyboard Controller is best suited for home-studio producers and beatmakers, for keyboard players who need a compact 61-key controller for Komplete and NKS sounds, for composers sketching ideas with Smart Play scales and chords, and for live players who want a portable controller with DAW transport control. It is also a strong first NI controller for students and new producers, and a practical second keyboard for S-series owners who need a smaller board for travel or a second room.
Setup and Connection Guide
Setting up the Native Instruments KOMPLETE KONTROL A61 61-Key Smart Keyboard Controller is simple. Connect it to a computer with a single USB 2.0 cable, which provides both power and MIDI, and install the Komplete Kontrol software together with the bundled instruments and Maschine Essentials. Browse sounds by tag on the OLED display using the four-directional push encoder, load a preset, and use the eight touch-sensitive knobs to shape it. Connect a sustain or expression pedal to the TRS pedal input for hands-free control, and use the transport buttons for playback, recording and tempo in a supported DAW such as Logic Pro X, GarageBand, Ableton Live, Cubase or Nuendo. The Native Instruments KOMPLETE KONTROL A61 61-Key Smart Keyboard Controller also functions as a standard USB MIDI controller for any compatible software.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the Native Instruments KOMPLETE KONTROL A61 61-Key Smart Keyboard Controller and the S series?
The A61 is the streamlined, affordable entry point with a 61-key semi-weighted keybed and an OLED display, while the S series adds larger colour screens, Light Guide and, on the S88, a weighted hammer-action keybed with polyphonic aftertouch.
Does the Native Instruments KOMPLETE KONTROL A61 61-Key Smart Keyboard Controller need a power supply?
No. It is USB 2.0 bus powered, so a single USB cable to the computer provides power and MIDI without a separate power supply.
Which DAWs does the Native Instruments KOMPLETE KONTROL A61 61-Key Smart Keyboard Controller integrate with?
It offers DAW control for Logic Pro X, GarageBand, Ableton Live, Cubase and Nuendo, plus deep integration with Maschine software, and it works as a USB MIDI controller elsewhere.
