ADAM Audio A77H – A Three-Way Midfield Monitor With the X-ART Signature

The ADAM Audio A77H is a three-way powered monitor built for midfield listening: two 7-inch woofers, a dedicated 3.5-inch midrange driver and ADAM’s hand-folded X-ART ribbon tweeter in a wide horizontal cabinet, each driver powered by its own amplifier. It is the successor to the long-running A77X, rebuilt around modern DSP so the monitor can be tuned to the room from the listening position rather than by reaching behind the cabinet.

The X-ART tweeter, explained

ADAM’s X-ART tweeter is a ribbon whose diaphragm is folded like a bellows. When a signal passes through it, the folds squeeze air out at several times the speed of a conventional dome, which gives the tweeter exceptional transient response and an efficiency advantage across its range. Practically, that means reverb tails, string detail and vocal sibilance are rendered with a clarity that makes editing and mix decisions easier – and it is the defining character of every ADAM monitor.

The tweeter sits in an HPS waveguide that controls how that energy spreads into the room, widening the usable sweet spot. The whole assembly rotates, so the A77H keeps correct dispersion if your room forces an unconventional placement.

Why three-way, why dual woofers

In a two-way monitor, one driver covers bass and midrange, and the midrange suffers when the cone is moving far on bass notes. The A77H gives the midrange its own dome driver, so vocals and instruments stay clean at high levels, while the twin woofers share the low-frequency work and move less for the same output – which means less distortion and more headroom. The result is a monitor that stays composed on dense, loud mixes where smaller speakers start to blur.
