Description
RODE Wireless PRO Compact Wireless Microphone System
The RODE Wireless PRO is a professional dual-channel wireless microphone system with two clip-on transmitters, one receiver, two Lavalier II microphones and a smart charging case, built for filmmakers and creators who cannot afford to lose a take. It uses RODE’s Series IV 2.4 GHz digital transmission with 128-bit encryption for a stable link at up to 260 metres in clear line of sight, and each transmitter records a 32-bit float backup to 32 GB of internal memory, giving over 40 hours of on-board recording. Timecode keeps audio and video in sync without an external timecode system.
Why Choose RODE Wireless PRO?
Professionals choose the RODE Wireless PRO because it answers the three failures that ruin location audio: a clipped take, a lost take and a drifting sync. The 32-bit float on-board recording means a performance captured too loud or too quiet can be recovered in post-production instead of being discarded, since the file holds far more level information than a conventional recording. Timecode generated by the receiver locks to both transmitters, so multi-camera edits line up without claps or manual alignment. GainAssist and a safety channel protect the live feed to camera as well, while locking 3.5 mm lavalier connectors stop a cable from being pulled out mid-interview. The smart charging case recharges the kit between setups, and the included Lavalier II microphones mean discreet, broadcast-ready interviews are possible straight out of the box.
Key Features
- 32-bit float on-board recording: recover clipped or quiet audio in post, with 32 GB per transmitter and over 40 hours capacity.
- Timecode built in: receiver-generated timecode syncs audio and video with no external system.
- Up to 260 m range: Series IV 2.4 GHz digital transmission with 128-bit encryption.
- Complete interview kit: two transmitters, receiver, two Lavalier II microphones and smart charging case.
- GainAssist and safety channel: automatic level protection plus a backup level for the camera feed.
- Up to 7 hours per charge: built-in rechargeable batteries, recharged in the smart case.
Best Suited For
The RODE Wireless PRO suits filmmakers, documentary crews, wedding videographers, journalists and YouTubers producing two-person interviews, presentations and location content. It fits productions where retakes are impossible, where two speakers must stay in sync across cameras, and where lavalier microphones need to stay hidden and secure. It is more system than a solo vlogger needs, and creators who only ever record themselves may find a single-transmitter kit simpler and cheaper. It also assumes a camera, phone or computer workflow; it is not a standalone recorder for audio-only field recording without a recording device attached.
Setup and Connection Guide
Charge the transmitters and receiver in the smart charging case before the shoot. Clip a transmitter to each speaker, or connect a Lavalier II microphone to each transmitter’s locking 3.5 mm input and clip the small lavalier to clothing for a discreet look. Connect the receiver to your camera with the 3.5 mm output, or to a phone or computer over USB-C, and confirm both channels on the receiver display. Enable on-board recording and timecode in RODE Central if your edit needs them, and record a short test with both speakers to confirm levels and sync. Between setups, return the units to the charging case so they top up, and keep line of sight where possible for the full 260-metre range.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does 32-bit float make my camera recording 32-bit float?
No. The 32-bit float recording lives on each transmitter as a backup. The live feed to your camera remains a conventional audio signal, so the benefit is a recoverable backup file in post-production, not a changed camera file.
Do I need a separate timecode box with the RODE Wireless PRO?
No. The receiver generates timecode and the transmitters lock to it, so audio and video stay synchronised without an external timecode system.
Can the RODE Wireless PRO work with other RODE wireless gear?
Yes. It is part of the RODE Series IV family and works alongside other Series IV devices, including the Wireless ME and Wireless GO II, subject to each device’s own pairing method.
