BenQ GW2790 27-inch FHD IPS Monitor

The BenQ GW2790 is a 27-inch Full HD monitor built around one priority: staying comfortable through a full working day. Its IPS panel displays 1920 x 1080 resolution with wide 178-degree viewing angles and 99 percent sRGB colour coverage, so documents, spreadsheets, web work and video all look consistent whether you sit squarely in front of it or share the screen with a colleague. A 100 Hz refresh rate makes scrolling, window movement and video noticeably smoother than a standard 60 Hz office display, without asking anything extra of the computer driving it.

BenQ builds this GW-series monitor around its Eye-CareU technology. Brightness Intelligence Gen2 uses an ambient light sensor to adjust screen brightness and colour temperature as room light changes through the day. Flicker-Free operation removes the invisible pulsing that tires eyes over long sessions, and Low Blue Light Plus reduces harmful blue light while preserving natural colour instead of washing the image yellow. The panel carries Eyesafe 2.0 certification, and dedicated modes include ePaper for long reading, Coding for dark-themed editors and a Colour Weakness mode that helps viewers distinguish red and green content.

Everyday picture quality

At 27 inches, Full HD resolution keeps text and interface elements at a readable size with standard operating-system scaling, which suits office software, browsing and study. The IPS panel holds colour and contrast steady at wider angles than TN or VA panels in this class, and the anti-glare surface keeps ceiling lights and windows from dominating the image. VESA MediaSync support helps video play back smoothly across broadcast frame rates. This is not a high-refresh gaming monitor or a wide-gamut colour-grading display, and it does not pretend to be: it is a well-balanced screen for mixed work and entertainment at a desk.

Connections and setup

Two HDMI inputs and a DisplayPort input make it easy to keep a work laptop, a desktop and a streaming device or console connected, switching between them from the on-screen menu instead of swapping cables. Built-in speakers handle calls, training videos and casual media without desk clutter, and a headphone jack covers private listening. The stand tilts from minus 5 to plus 20 degrees, and the 100 x 100 mm VESA pattern allows wall mounting or a monitor arm. Set the computer to 1920 x 1080 at 100 Hz after connecting, since some systems default to 60 Hz until the higher rate is selected.

Who it suits

The GW2790 suits office workstations, home offices, study desks and reception or billing counters where one dependable screen runs all day. It also works well as the second display in a dual-monitor setup thanks to its slim bezels. Buyers who need height adjustment or USB-C docking should look at BenQ models that offer those features, because this monitor keeps its stand simple and its inputs focused on HDMI and DisplayPort. For comfortable, accurate everyday viewing at 27 inches, it covers the brief in full.
