BenQ GV32 Laser Portable Projector

BenQ GV32 Laser Portable Projector

The BenQ GV32 is a portable Full HD projector designed around one idea: the screen should go wherever you are most comfortable. It sits on a flexible rotating base that tilts 135 degrees vertically and turns a full 360 degrees horizontally, so the same unit projects on a wall from a bedside table, then rotates up to fill the ceiling when you lie back. The native 1080p picture is driven by an LED light source rated at 500 ANSI lumens with a 100,000:1 contrast ratio, and BenQ’s CinematicColor tuning covers 95% of the Rec.709 gamut with HDR10 and HLG support for streamed film and series.

Google TV is built in, with certified access to Netflix and the wider Android TV app catalogue, so no external player is required for everyday viewing. Dual-band Wi-Fi, Google Cast and AirPlay cover wireless casting from phones and laptops, while Bluetooth 5.0 is available for audio devices. Physical connections include an HDMI 2.0b input, USB-A, and a USB-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode that also accepts power — the GV32 can run from a 60W or higher USB-C power bank for genuinely untethered sessions away from a wall socket.

Ceiling projection, without the ceiling mount

Most projectors assume a fixed screen position. The GV32’s base works more like an integrated tripod: place it at either end of the bed, tilt the body up, and the picture lands on the ceiling at a comfortable viewing angle. Auto image rotation and keystone correction straighten the picture after you move it, and a 180-degree flip mode handles placement from the far side of the bed. With a throw ratio of 1.2, it produces a 100-inch image from about 2.5 metres and can go up to 120 inches — sizes that would need a very large television in a bedroom.

Sound that skips the soundbar

Portable projectors usually treat audio as an afterthought. The GV32 carries a 2.1-channel system — two 4W drivers plus a 10W woofer in its own chamber, 18W in total — which gives dialogue weight and film soundtracks some low-end presence without any external speaker. For late-night viewing or a bigger room, Bluetooth covers headphones and external speakers instead.

Where it fits

The GV32 is for bedrooms, dorms, rental homes and travel — anywhere a permanent TV or fixed projector install does not make sense, but a 100-inch picture still appeals. Its 22.4ms input lag also makes it workable for casual console gaming through the USB-C or HDMI connection, including a Nintendo Switch on a single cable. It weighs 1.6 kg, so moving it between rooms is a one-hand job. Full specifications are listed in the Additional Information table on this page.
