Optoma Oma-r Ultra Portable Rgb Triple Laser Projector

Optoma Oma-r Ultra Portable Rgb Triple Laser Projector

The Optoma OMA-R is listed as an ultra portable RGB triple laser projector with Full HD resolution and a compact design. That short description defines the product’s identity, and it is also the limit of what can be stated with confidence here: published information for the OMA name covers closely related portable RGB laser models with differing throw, brightness and lens specifications, and the exact regional variant behind this listing could not be pinned to a single manufacturer datasheet. For that reason this page deliberately describes the product at identity level, using only what the listing itself establishes — the Optoma brand, the OMA-R model name, its RGB triple laser light source, its Full HD picture and its ultra portable form — rather than attaching figures that may belong to a sibling model.

Key features

• RGB triple laser light source: Three separate laser colours — red, green and blue — form the image directly, rather than filtering white light through a colour wheel.
• Full HD resolution: The listing specifies a Full HD picture, the standard associated with detailed film, broadcast and presentation content.
• Ultra portable design: The product is positioned as an ultra portable projector, intended to be moved and set up in different places rather than permanently installed.
• Compact form factor: The listing describes a compact design, consistent with the portable purpose in the product name.
• Laser light source: A laser source avoids the lamp replacement cycle of lamp-based projectors and reaches operating brightness quickly.
• Optoma OMA family: The OMA name is Optoma’s designation for its smallest RGB laser projector line, distinct from its larger home and business ranges.

What RGB triple laser means

In a conventional single-laser projector, a blue laser excites a phosphor to create white light, which is then split into colours. An RGB triple laser design instead uses dedicated red, green and blue lasers as the light source itself. Because each primary colour is produced directly, this architecture is associated with a wider and purer colour palette than phosphor-based designs of similar size, particularly in saturated reds and greens. It also removes the spinning colour wheel found in many compact projectors. Those are characteristics of the technology named in this product’s title; the precise colour gamut coverage, brightness rating and contrast figures for this specific unit are not stated here because they vary between the related OMA models and could not be verified for the OMA-R listing itself.

Portable projection in practice

An ultra portable projector changes how projection is used. Instead of a fixed room with a mounted projector and a permanent screen, the device can be carried to the surface available — a living room wall, a bedroom ceiling, a meeting room or a temporary presentation space — and set up for that session. That flexibility places a premium on quick setup, tolerance of imperfect placement and surfaces that are not perfectly flat or perfectly white. It also means expectations should be set by environment: like all compact projectors, a model of this type performs best where ambient light can be controlled, and screen size should be matched to the room rather than maximised for its own sake.

Checking the details that matter

Buyers comparing portable projectors should confirm the figures that differ between closely related models before relying on them: the throw ratio and therefore the distance needed for a given image size, whether focus and keystone correction are automatic, the brightness figure and the measurement standard behind it, the exact input connections, and the weight. Those specifications are intentionally not listed on this page for the OMA-R, because the available sources attribute different values to different OMA variants and presenting one set as this model’s specification would be misleading.

What is clear is the concept the OMA-R represents: Optoma’s RGB triple laser technology and a Full HD picture in an ultra portable, compact projector that can be carried and set up wherever a large image is wanted, without a permanent installation.
