BenQ TK705STI 4K Short Throw Projector

BenQ TK705STi – 4K Short Throw Smart Projector with Google TV and 3,000 ANSI Lumens

The BenQ TK705STi is the short throw version of BenQ’s TK705 smart projector family: a 4K UHD DLP projector with a 4LED light source, 3,000 ANSI lumens and a fixed 0.8 throw ratio that produces a large image from close to the screen. Google TV is built in with certified Netflix, and gaming performance – 5 ms input lag at 4K/60 Hz with HDR game modes – makes it at home with a console. It is designed for apartments and compact media rooms where ceiling mounting is not an option.

Key features

• 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) DLP projection with HDR-PRO tone mapping
• 3,000 ANSI lumens from a 4LED light source rated up to 30,000 hours in Eco mode
• 600,000:1 contrast ratio and 98% Rec.709 CinematicColor coverage
• Short throw 0.8 ratio with fixed zoom for big images in small rooms
• Google TV built in – Netflix, YouTube and thousands of apps, no dongle needed
• 5 ms input lag at 4K/60 Hz, ALLM, HDR-FPS and HDR-RPG gaming modes
• Dual 8 W chamber speakers with Dolby Audio
• HDMI 2.1 with eARC, plus USB-C with DisplayPort and 30 W power delivery

Short throw for smaller rooms

A 0.8 throw ratio changes where a projector can live. Instead of a ceiling mount metres from the screen, the TK705STi sits on a console or low table close to the wall and still fills a 100-inch-plus screen, with far less risk of people casting shadows in the beam. Automatic focus and 2D keystone correction – vertical plus or minus 30 degrees and horizontal plus or minus 20 degrees – square the picture up after placement, so setup is measured in minutes rather than an afternoon of alignment.

Colour and HDR picture quality

The 4LED light source drives 98% coverage of the Rec.709 colour space with 30-bit colour, and BenQ’s HDR-PRO technology applies tone mapping to HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG content so highlights and shadow detail survive together instead of one crushing the other. LED output is also consistent over time: there is no lamp to dim or replace, with 20,000 hours of life in Normal mode and 30,000 hours in Eco mode.

Gaming at 4K with 5 ms lag

At 5 ms input lag at 4K/60 Hz, the TK705STi responds like a gaming monitor while projecting an image many times larger. Auto Low Latency Mode engages automatically when a console is detected, HDR-FPS mode lifts shadow detail in shooters so opponents are easier to pick out, and HDR-RPG mode favours colour depth for story-driven titles. HDMI 2.1 with eARC passes full-quality audio, including 7.1-channel sound, on to a soundbar or AV receiver.

Smart platform and sound

Google TV organises films and series from your services into one interface, with profiles, voice search and casting from Android, iOS and Windows devices over Wi-Fi 6. The dual 8 W speakers with Dolby Audio are sufficient for everyday viewing on their own, and Bluetooth 5.2 pairs headphones or wireless speakers for late-night sessions. The USB-C port displays from a laptop or phone while delivering up to 30 W of power, so a connected device stays charged while it plays.

For compact rooms that want genuine 4K, smart streaming and serious console gaming from one device, the TK705STi is the practical short throw choice.
