Panasonic PT-LB356D XGA 3LCD Projector

Panasonic PT-LB356D XGA 3LCD Projector

The Panasonic PT-LB356D — the regional variant of Panasonic’s PT-LB356 — is a portable 3LCD projector designed for education and corporate use, where brightness, reliability and low running costs matter more than headline resolution. It produces 3,300 lumens at XGA (1024 x 768), bright enough to present without dimming the room, and its lamp replacement cycle runs to 10,000 hours in normal mode and 20,000 hours in Eco, which for most schools and offices means the lamp can last the projector’s whole service life. Dual HDMI inputs, LAN control with PJLink and a long-life filter round out a specification written for IT departments.

Built Around Total Cost of Ownership

Most classroom projectors are cheap to buy and expensive to keep: lamps every few thousand hours, filters forgotten until the image yellows. The PT-LB356D attacks both costs. Its 230 W UHM lamp uses low-degradation materials to hold brightness far longer, with a replacement cycle of 10,000 hours in Normal and Quiet modes and 20,000 hours in Eco. The long-life air filter sits behind a side-panel door for tool-free access and runs 5,000 hours at full brightness, 6,000 in Eco and up to 10,000 in Quiet mode. Fitted in a school running the projector six hours a day, those figures translate to years of service between consumable changes.

Presenting Without the Cable Shuffle

Two HDMI inputs let one presenter display while the next connects, so lessons and meetings switch sources from the remote instead of passing a cable around the table. A computer input and switchable computer output cover legacy VGA chains and monitor feeds, composite video handles older sources, and USB Memory Viewer plays images, text and PDFs straight from a memory stick — no laptop needed for a simple slideshow. Add the optional wireless module and Windows, iOS and Android devices present wirelessly, with up to four screens shown at once through Panasonic’s presenter software. Daylight View Lite, adjusted from the remote, optimises colour and brightness to the room’s ambient light.

Control, Sound and Placement

On a network, the projector reports status and accepts control over LAN with PJLink Class 2 compatibility, alongside RS-232C for room control systems — the features that let one technician manage a building full of projectors. The manual 1.2x zoom lens (F/1.6 to 1.76) throws 30 to 300-inch images at a 1.48 to 1.78 ratio, keystone correction runs to plus or minus 35 degrees on both axes, and the 10 W mono speaker is loud enough for a classroom without external audio. Noise falls to 30 dB in Quiet mode for smaller rooms. Full technical specifications are listed in the Additional Information table.
