The Panasonic PT-MZ780 is an installation laser projector for corporate, education and museum spaces, combining a 3LCD optical engine with 7,000 lumens of output at WUXGA resolution, 1920 x 1200 pixels. That resolution gives presentations and data more vertical space than Full HD while the brightness carries images in rooms that stay lit. Panasonic builds the MZ series around flexible installation: a powered zoom lens is supplied, the lens is interchangeable, shift ranges are wide, and the chassis supports free 360-degree installation in any orientation the design requires.

Image quality in lit rooms

Three transparent LCD panels, one per primary colour, produce the image, so colour brightness matches white brightness and text stays sharp at native resolution. Screen sizes run from 40 to 400 inches with the supplied lens, and centre-to-corner uniformity is rated at 85 percent. Display modes tuned for different content and screen surfaces, together with dynamic optimisation that adjusts the image to the material, keep presentations legible without darkening the room, an everyday requirement in meeting spaces and lecture halls where note-taking matters as much as the image.

Lens flexibility and installation

The supplied lens offers powered zoom and focus over a 1.61 to 2.76:1 throw range, and the wide powered shift, plus or minus 67 percent vertically and plus or minus 35 percent horizontally, means the projector rarely has to sit in exactly one spot. Keystone correction covers plus or minus 25 degrees vertical and plus or minus 30 degrees horizontal. Optional lenses extend the range from the ET-ELU20 ultra short throw lens at 0.330 to 0.353:1 through to long zoom options beyond 7:1, and edge blending supports multi-projector displays. Installation can be ceiling or floor, front or rear, at any angle through 360 degrees.

Laser life and running costs

The laser light source is rated to take 20,000 hours in Normal mode and 24,000 hours in Eco mode before output declines to 50 percent, eliminating lamp purchases across years of service. The washable eco filter can be cleaned and reused rather than replaced on a consumables cycle, and edge blending, low noise and modest power draw all serve the same goal of an install-and-forget projector for facilities teams.

Connections

Three HDMI inputs accept signals up to 4K/60p with HDCP 2.3 and CEC support, scaling them to the native WUXGA panel. A D-sub 15-pin computer input and monitor output, stereo mini jack audio in and out, and network and serial control connections cover legacy sources and integration with room control systems.
