ViewSonic PX748 4K 4000 Lumens DLP Projector

ViewSonic PX748-4K 4K UHD Home Projector

The ViewSonic PX748-4K is a bright 4K home projector built for mixed use: films at night, sport and games in rooms that are never fully dark. Its lamp-based DLP engine produces 4,000 ANSI lumens and a 4K UHD image (3840 x 2160 via XPR), and its gaming credentials are unusually strong for the class — 4.2 ms input lag with a 240 Hz refresh rate at 1080p. A USB-C input with video and power makes it a natural big-screen partner for handheld consoles and laptops.

Key features

• 4K UHD resolution with HDR and HLG support
• 4,000 ANSI lumens brightness
• 4.2 ms input lag and 240 Hz refresh rate (1080p)
• 1.3x optical zoom, 1.13:1 to 1.47:1 throw ratio
• USB-C input for direct console and laptop connection
• Warping, auto vertical keystone and H/V keystone
• LAN control and 12 V trigger for smart-home integration

Brightness and picture

At 4,000 ANSI lumens the PX748-4K keeps contrast and colour on screens up to 300 inches and stays watchable with curtains open — the realistic condition for most living rooms. The lamp is rated at 4,000 hours in normal mode and up to 20,000 hours in SuperEco mode, which trades brightness for life. Colour depth is 1.07 billion colours, contrast is rated at 12,000:1 in SuperEco mode, and ViewSonic’s SuperColor processing covers a wide gamut for HDR content.

Gaming performance

The ultra-fast input mode drops lag to 4.2 ms at 1080p with refresh rates up to 240 Hz, figures normally found on dedicated gaming monitors. The USB-C port carries video from a Nintendo Switch or laptop while supplying power, so a handheld setup becomes a 100-inch gaming screen through one cable. At 4K the lag remains low enough for story-driven titles, and the projector’s brightness keeps daytime sessions viable.

Setup flexibility

The 1.3x optical zoom and moderate throw ratio suit typical living-room depths, and the correction toolkit is comprehensive: horizontal and vertical keystone to +/-40 degrees, automatic vertical keystone, four-corner adjustment and a warping mode for projecting onto curved or uneven surfaces. A 10 W built-in speaker covers casual viewing, and LAN control with a 12 V trigger lets the projector wake a motorised screen and integrate with home automation.

Connections

Two HDMI 2.0b inputs (HDCP 1.4/2.2), USB-C, a powered USB-A port for streaming sticks, RS-232 and RJ45 complete the rear panel. The projector measures 312 x 222 x 108 mm and weighs 2.8 kg, light enough for a shelf or a portable setup between rooms.

Ownership notes

As a lamp model, the PX748-4K trades the laser’s fit-and-forget life for a lower purchase price and full-rated brightness from a replaceable lamp; running SuperEco mode for television and sport stretches lamp life toward its 20,000-hour ceiling while reserving full power for film nights. Replacement lamps are a standard ViewSonic service part, keeping long-term running costs predictable.
