ViewSonic X1000-4K 4K HDR Ultra Short Throw Smart Projector

ViewSonic X1000-4K Ultra Short Throw Smart Projector

The ViewSonic X1000-4K is an ultra-short-throw smart projector designed to live on a sideboard like a piece of audio equipment. Its LED light source and integrated 40 W Harman Kardon soundbar make it a combined picture-and-sound system: place it 38 cm from the wall for a 100-inch 4K UHD image, or use the bar alone as a Bluetooth speaker. The LED source is rated for 30,000 hours, and ViewSonic’s Cinema SuperColor+ tuning covers 125% of Rec.709.

• Subwoofer output for system expansion

Picture quality

The DLP engine renders 4K UHD via XPR pixel shifting and supports HDR content. Colour is the X1000-4K’s calling card: the LED’s wide gamut is tuned to 125% of Rec.709, giving film content saturation that lamp projectors at this size rarely match, and the rated contrast ratio is 3,000,000:1. Image sizes run from 60 to 150 inches as the unit moves within its short throw range, and intelligent eye protection dims the light when someone passes in front of the lens.

Harman Kardon soundbar

The front of the cabinet is a full soundbar: two 20 W channels tuned by Harman Kardon, with the depth of the cabinet giving bass response unusual in a projector. A subwoofer output lets an external sub take over the lowest octave for film nights. When the screen is off, Bluetooth speaker mode streams music through the same system, so the device earns its sideboard space around the clock.

Smart features

Built-in Wi-Fi runs ViewSonic’s smart interface with streaming apps and voice control support, and the projector accepts casting from phones and laptops. Three HDMI inputs (one with ARC) handle players and consoles that bypass the internal apps, and USB media playback is supported. Automatic keystone and four-corner adjustment set the image up quickly after any move.

Design and placement

Unlike a conventional projector, the X1000-4K is styled to be seen: a fabric-wrapped, low cabinet 757 mm wide that sits under the screen wall on furniture. Fan noise is rated at 25 dB in normal mode and 23 dB in eco — quiet enough for near-field seating. It weighs approximately 9.4 kg.

Who it suits

The X1000-4K fits homes that want a very large picture without a projector-shaped object in the middle of the room: the cabinet reads as a soundbar on the media unit, the screen can be a fixed ALR panel or a painted wall, and the same device covers film nights, sport and daily music. It is also a practical answer where ceiling mounting is not permitted, since everything the system needs sits on one piece of furniture.
