Tono PRJ M1 Projector Ceiling Lift

Tono PRJ M1 Projector Ceiling Lift

The Tono PRJ M1 is a motorised projector lift that hides the projector inside the ceiling when it is not in use and lowers it to its working position on command. In a finished home theatre, boardroom or living room, a permanently visible projector and mount break up the ceiling line; the lift removes that compromise. Press the remote and the scissor mechanism descends silently to its preset stop; press again and the projector disappears flush into the ceiling void.

The PRJ M1 is the compact model in Tono’s lift range, rated for projectors up to 15 kg — which covers the vast majority of home and business projectors — with a maximum projector size of 400 x 450 mm on the universal adapter. The drop distance is 5 feet, and the closed lift measures just 18 x 5 x 18 inches, so it needs only a shallow ceiling void. Tono notes the M1 is a super-compact design and is not intended for false ceilings; it is built for installation into a structural ceiling cavity. An aluminium body keeps the mechanism light and rust-free, which also reduces the load the silent motor has to move.

How a ceiling lift changes the room

A fixed ceiling mount is a practical choice, but the projector hangs in view permanently, collects dust, and is the first thing guests notice. A lift treats the projector like a retractable screen: present only during the show. That also protects the projector — enclosed in the ceiling void, the lens and vents stay cleaner, and the unit is out of reach of accidental knocks. For rooms that double as living space, it is the difference between a media room and a room that happens to contain a projector.

Installation and control

The lift installs into the ceiling void with the projector mounted to the universal adapter; post-installation micro-adjustments let the installer register the projector precisely to the screen. The included cable chain guide keeps power and signal cables flexing in a controlled path as the lift travels, instead of dangling or snagging. Day to day, the RF remote handles up and down, and the dry-contact input allows integration with home automation platforms such as Crestron, Control4 and AMX, so the lift can drop as part of a single “movie” scene alongside the screen and lights.

Where it fits
