Edifier S1000W – Wi-Fi Bookshelf Speakers with a Planar Tweeter

The Edifier S1000W is a powered bookshelf speaker system built for listeners who stream everything but refuse to compromise on sound. A planar magnetic tweeter – technology borrowed from high-end audiophile speakers – works with a 5.5-inch woofer in each cabinet, driven by 120 W RMS of bi-amplified power, while dual-band Wi-Fi brings AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and TIDAL Connect streaming in at full quality.

Wired sources are covered just as thoroughly, with optical, coaxial and dual RCA line inputs, and Bluetooth is on hand for quick pairing from any device.

Key features

• 120 W RMS bi-amplified power (dedicated amplifiers for tweeter and woofer)
• Planar magnetic tweeter for smooth, extended high frequencies
• 5.5-inch woofer for controlled, authoritative bass
• Dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) for stable network streaming
• Apple AirPlay 2 multiroom support
• Spotify Connect and TIDAL Connect built in
• Bluetooth wireless streaming for phones, tablets and computers
• Optical, coaxial and 2 x RCA analogue inputs
• Works with Alexa for voice-controlled playback in a smart home setup

Why a planar tweeter sounds different

In a conventional dome tweeter, a single voice coil drives a small dome from its edge, and the surface can flex and break up at high frequencies. A planar magnetic tweeter spreads the driving force evenly across an ultra-thin diaphragm suspended in a magnetic field, so the whole surface moves as one. The audible result is lower distortion, smoother dispersion across the room and high frequencies that stay clean and open at any volume – cymbals, strings and the air around a vocal recording all gain a realism that dome tweeters at this price rarely match.

Streaming without the phone bottleneck

Because the S1000W connects to your network directly, Spotify Connect and TIDAL Connect stream from the cloud rather than through your phone: your handset becomes a remote, playback survives calls and notifications, and the audio arrives at full quality. AirPlay 2 lets Apple users group the S1000W with other speakers around the home, and Bluetooth covers guests and quick connections. The Edifier app and the supplied remote keep day-to-day control simple, from input switching and volume to presets for the sources you use most. It is the connectivity set of a modern streaming system, with no separate streamer or amplifier required.

One system for TV, turntable and streaming

Optical and coaxial inputs take a TV, CD player or games console digitally, while the two RCA line inputs welcome a turntable with a phono stage and another analogue source at the same time. For a living room that wants genuine hi-fi sound from every source – and a desktop setup that has outgrown small speakers – the S1000W is a complete, self-contained answer.

Planar highs, real power and every streaming route that matters: the S1000W is Edifier’s flagship bookshelf system for the streaming era.
