JBL Stage 260C In-Ceiling Speaker

JBL Stage 260C In-Ceiling Speaker

The JBL Stage 260C is a 2-way in-ceiling speaker from JBL’s Stage 2 Architectural series, built for installations where the speakers should be heard, not seen. Behind a zero-bezel magnetic grille sits a 6.5-inch Polycellulose cone woofer and a 1-inch aluminium dome tweeter fitted with JBL’s Acoustic Lens waveguide. It is a passive design that connects to any AV receiver or multi-room amplifier, and it covers the roles ceiling speakers are asked to play in modern homes: Dolby Atmos height channels, surround channels in discreet theatres, and quality background music in living spaces, kitchens and home offices.

JBL’s architectural speakers share the acoustic research behind the brand’s studio and cinema loudspeakers, with smoothed baffles and lens-loaded tweeters that keep dispersion wide and even, so the sound stays balanced across the whole seating area rather than only in one sweet spot.

Key Features

• 6.5-inch (165mm) Polycellulose cone woofer for full-range output from the ceiling
• 1-inch (25mm) aluminium dome tweeter with Acoustic Lens waveguide
• Frequency response from 50 Hz to 25 kHz
• Handles amplifiers from 20 to 100 watts RMS
• 87 dB sensitivity and 8 ohm impedance: an easy load for AV receivers
• Zero-bezel magnetic grille that sits nearly flush and can be painted to match the ceiling
• 203 mm cutout and 98 mm mounting depth suit standard false ceilings
• Nickel-plated spring-loaded connectors for quick, secure wiring

The Acoustic Lens, Explained

Ceiling speakers fire downwards, so the quality of the sound at ear level depends heavily on how widely and evenly the tweeter disperses high frequencies. JBL’s Acoustic Lens sits in front of the aluminium dome and shapes that dispersion, spreading treble smoothly across the room instead of beaming it at the floor. Combined with the acoustically smoothed baffle around the drivers, the result is clearer dialogue and more consistent tonal balance wherever you sit, which matters most when the 260C is used for Atmos height effects or as a surround channel.

Installation Notes

The 260C mounts with dog-leg clamps into a 203 mm circular cutout and needs 98 mm of mounting depth behind the ceiling surface. Spring-loaded, nickel-plated terminals accept standard speaker cable without tools. For home theatre use, pair it with a receiver that supports height-channel processing; for distributed audio, it works with any stereo or multi-zone amplifier within its power range. The grille can be spray-painted before fitting for a fully colour-matched finish.

Who the Stage 260C Suits

Choose the Stage 260C for a living-room Atmos setup that keeps speakers out of sight, for surround channels in a media room with limited wall space, or for even, high-quality background music across a home. Order one speaker per channel position.
