Jbl Stage 280CSA – 2 Way 8 Inches Angled In-ceiling Speaker (each)

JBL Stage 280CSA – 8-Inch Coaxial In-Ceiling Speaker

The JBL Stage 280CSA is an 8-inch coaxial in-ceiling loudspeaker engineered for commercial and high-quality residential distributed audio installations requiring greater bass extension and higher output levels than smaller ceiling speakers can provide. The 280CSA is the larger sibling of the 260CSA, featuring an 8-inch woofer for extended low-frequency reproduction and higher maximum sound pressure levels, making it suitable for larger spaces including open-plan offices, larger retail areas, medium-sized restaurants, hotel lobbies, and premium multi-room home audio installations where sonic performance expectations are elevated. JBL's acoustic engineering expertise ensures that the 280CSA reproduces both speech and music with the clarity, natural balance, and reliability expected from a professional commercial audio product. 8-Inch Woofer for Extended Bass Performance

The 280CSA's 8-inch woofer provides a significant increase in bass extension and maximum output level compared to 6.5-inch ceiling speakers, extending the usable frequency response deeper into the low frequencies and enabling higher sustained sound pressure levels for larger rooms and higher background noise environments. The larger cone area moves more air at lower frequencies, producing bass reproduction with more physical impact and musical weight – an important quality difference for music-forward commercial applications in restaurants, bars, and retail environments where the energy and emotion of the music contributes to the customer experience. The increased driver area also improves efficiency, allowing the same amplifier power to produce higher output levels.

Coaxial Point-Source Design

Like the 260CSA, the 280CSA uses a coaxial driver configuration with the 1-inch titanium dome tweeter mounted concentrically within the 8-inch woofer. This single-point-source design ensures that both frequency ranges are radiated from the same position, maintaining consistent tonal balance across the speaker's coverage area and eliminating the phase interference between drivers that degrades image quality in conventional two-way ceiling designs with spatially separated drivers. The coaxial arrangement also simplifies system calibration in multi-speaker installations, as the predictable coverage pattern makes acoustic modelling more reliable and installation easier. 70V/100V and Commercial Features

The 280CSA includes a multi-tap 70V/100V transformer, making it suitable for connection to commercial constant-voltage distribution systems commonly used in multi-zone background music and paging installations. Low-impedance direct operation is also supported for residential and professional amplifier systems. The dog-leg spring mounting mechanism provides tool-free installation in standard acoustic ceiling tiles and plasterboard, and the flush-fitting white grille is paintable to match any ceiling finish. The 280CSA is designed to be straightforward to install by experienced AV contractors and integrators, with all necessary hardware and documentation included.
